Operation warp speed will help speed up the roll out of the vaccine, but that's not the same as speeding up its development.

There currently exists no infrastructure for a large mass vaccination program, that is able to get 50%+ of the population immunized within 6-9 months.

That's the problem operation warp speed is designed to tackle.

Pfizer didn't receive any funding from Warp Speed, according to the Pfizer CEO and the regulatory process doesn't help with development, it helps with approval to sell the finished product.

Pence taking credit for this would be like someone taking credit for the work someone else did because they held a door open for them on their way to work, a door which they are perfectly capable of opening themselves.

With that said, he can take credit for maybe getting it to market faster, when it actually gets to market. But not for development, he and Warp Speed had nothing to do with the development of it.

Allowing the clinical trials to proceed more quickly does indeed accelerate the process.

If Pence and Trump want any credit, they need to make sure that places that aren’t currently equipped to store the vaccine and then be able to administer the vaccine, are equipped to do it. If you read up on the vaccine, it has to be stored at -80 Celsius or -112 freedom units. I’m like 99% sure that most Walmart’s and CVS’s are not equipped for storing anything near -80C, and they do not like spending money on that kind of stuff.

Edit: Well I’ve heard from a source that at least Walmart might be getting some new equipment, not sure what or when or who is funding it.

Logistics they should be working on, but Trump hasn’t even taken a national security meeting in several months. Pence’s covid team, has also not met in months. Taking credit, might be the first action of Pence team since summer.

Edit: Just to point out what is happening... The people who made the vaccine are saying Trump admin had nothing to do with it... with people claiming they are lying, because politicians said so. Vaccine makers are liars, to give Trump credit... great confidence builder.
