No thanks. A set date for transition of power makes those transitions of power more likely. Imagine all you had to do to stay in power was keep finding votes or sequentially asking for recounts from every state. It'd be years before the next guy gets in.

I wasn't saying there shouldn't be a set date.

Just that it should be sooner than January. Like maybe vote in November, inauguration by Thanksgiving-ish.

I don't like giving hard dates in hypotheticals, but there should be a hard date.

Trump's actions are proof that we need to get rid of the lame duck session.

Move the certification and inauguration to within a week of the counting being completed. Don't give the lame duck session time to do these things.

Nah, just have it setup where any changes passed during the lame duck session is required to be revoted on by all parties within 90 days of taking office or it expires. Have the lame duck literally be lame in that respect.

Biden doesn't need to go after Trump, all he needs to do is appoint an AG that will do his job and they will take care of that for him. Especially after being ran by Barr, the lower ranked ones will be itching to regain some credibility after all that (While the Supreme Court gets to lament in their loss of all remaining credibility).

Biden does his job, doesn't worry about Trump.
The AG does their job and is required to worry about Trump.
The Secretary of Treasury does their job and turns over Trumps taxes like they have been legally required to do this whole time.
Congress House Ways and Means Committee does their job and looks into it further.

Biden doesn't have to do anything but let the others do their jobs and if he does, then that actually makes him look bad and gives his cult ammo to believe the process is tainted.

Let the AG go after Trump, let him go after Kavanaugh for Perjury and an ACTUAL background check into those claims, let the AG look into those around Trump who protected him and why they did it and so on. Biden doesn't need to personally direct that stuff, he just needs an AG that will do his job professionally and that will already get done.

Jesus...I've had some slow weeks at work and all but...1-2 meetings a day, one of which is often over a meal? I've heard of "Senioritis" and all, and I remember it from back in my highschool/college days but holy fuckin shit.

I've also been thinking about maybe having a law saying nothing except for emergency bills can be passed in the lame duck.
