    Sunday's quick report:

30,701 new cases; 312 deaths, bringing the total to 591,062. 15 states did not report. Cases were way down, deaths were slightly up. All of that is moot without complete information.

    Stay safe, folks.

@cubby I'm going to need your help on this!

So, some more about Trump's personal attorney Giuliani.

    1) Trump sickophant and possible Epstein ride sharer Dershowitz says Trump should join with Giuliani in court, to attempt to block all those legally subpoena'd electronic communications.

...good. Put Trump on the chair. Put him under oath. I think this is a fantastic idea, and I have no idea why Douchowtiz would say that about a client. Um...I guess neither of them are clients of his. Huh. Still, Trump on the stand? I think he'd literally rather die.

    2) If I cite CNN, I should cite FOX News. But, the only FOX News story I could find was Giuliani claims he was framed. That's typical for FOX News, I suppose.

Incidentally, "framed" means "they made up evidence". Which is what I would say, if I knew the cops had found damning and very real evidence.

    3) So I failed to mention that that earlier story I posted about the FBI warning Giuliani was retracted. Sorry about that, I honestly missed that. Since I cited the story, I should have cited the retraction. But, like many retractions, it's not always front-page news. Regardless, my bad.

    *ahem*

    But.

This is why it's not good news for Giuliani.

Basically, the FBI didn't warn Giuliani about Russian election interference...because they suspected he was in on it.

Yeah. That's less "HAH! Fake News!" and more "Ohhhhhhhhhhh shit" for the rabid fanbase.

    4) In fact, let's get further into that. We know Giuliani went to meed Russians, and yes I mean Ukrainians who were working for Putin, sorry once you conquer half a country don't expect me to play political nicieties with who's on which side of a border. We know he was looking for dirt on Biden, we know a pinch of dirt was delivered, and we know Team Trump tried to use it.

    5) We know ousted Ukrainian Lev Parnas was a friend of Giuliani and Putin, wanted that ambassador fired, and Trump/Giuliani got her fired. We know Parnas is under indictment for election money laundering for, yes, Team Trump, in 2019. Then for fraud in 2020. We know Parnas claims Trump indicted him to shut him up during Trump's impeachment hearings -- which, yes, involved Trump blackmailing Ukraine.

When Parnas was arrested in October 2019, Democrats in the U.S. House were seeking his testimony about his involvement with Giuliani’s Ukrainian effort.
We also know another pro-Putin Ukrainian...or "Russian" for short...Dmytro Firtash (not a bad mage name) is fighting being extradited to the US for, yes, fraud charges, and Barr and Trump slow-rolled that about the same time he needed Ukrainian dirt on Biden. Firtash is monetarily linked to Giuliani to the tune of seven figures. If Firtash directly offered Trump, Barr, or Giuliani an exchange of political damaging information (true or false) in exchange for making a fraud felony charge vanish, that's a laundry list of felonies and Biden just brought the bleach.

Both Parnas and Firtash, being demonstrably corrupt, had a public issue with ambassador Yovanovich. Giuliani did run a smear campaign against her, and she was fired by Trump. Well, technically Pompeo, but since nothing happened to Pompeo it counts for Trump too.

If nothing else, taking something of value from a foreign source, for an election, is a federal felony. It's called 52 USC 30121: Contributions and donations by foreign nationals .

If Giuliani and Trump coordinated efforts to do that, their conversations are not privy to lawyer-client confidentiality. They are evidence in a conspiracy charge.

    6) There is noooooooooooooo part six.

    7) And, of course, just to make it clear, Trump was caught red-handed blackmailing Ukraine. Even what little transcripts Trump released show that. I'm actually quite curious where the rest is. If Trump had half a brain, he'd...nah, not finishing that. If Team Trump had half a brain, they'd have burned the rest of the transcript, even knowing that's a felony, since being caught with it is worse. But we talked for a while about some kind of virtual impervious vault or something? It's possible that actually exists, it's possible Biden told the DoJ to open it and use the contents as evidence if they were, and it's possible that was used as the iron-clad probable cause for the search warrant, because as we all know, some rinky-dink DA in Bumblefuck doesn't get to subpoena records like this because they feel like it. They need a reason of Watergate-level proportions. "Caught blackmailing Ukraine directly on tape" would qualify, as would testimony of anyone involved (such as the translators).

    8) Oh, speaking of which, Trump's NDAs are illegal. We heard about that recently regarding his campaign, but for WH employees, they were dead in the water a while ago. Besides, NDAs can't stop you from testifying to a direct subpoena. "It might incriminate me" is still valid but um...yeah, you want to lead with that? The press would have a field day, especially considering

If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?
-- Trump, to Clinton, in 2016

This is all public info, some from Trump's term, some from the last 24 hours. If this is the public info, what's hidden in Giuliani's messages?

Even the public info could be good enough to convict Giuliani, since being Trump's personal lawyer in the WH and also an undisclosed foreign agent -- known as "kompromat" to most people -- goes beyond "security risk" and halfway to "here's your blindfold and cigarette". It might only be a matter of time before we know if Giuliani stands alone, being sold out by Trump and for some reason unwilling to turn...or, if Giuliani decides there are other ways to spend his retirement than conjugal visits with Powell.

It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, leaks out of Giuliani this time.

Honestly this is the second-best news I've heard all day, between "new pets for Children's week" and "favorite restaurant has raspberry chocolate mousse this weekend".

Not that my statement won't be a clinic on the obvious, but all of what you linked above is essentially showing Rudi to be in a world of shit about now.

The quotes from Dershowitz are weird, but he's been off his rocked for a long while now, and most people don't really take him seriously any more - especially after he seemed to partially hook his wagon to the Trump Train.

Getting Trump sworn in on the stand would be fantastic, but I agree, it's the last thing he wants to do, so expect his legal team to delay any chance at that until hell freezes over.

The Russian interference and the FBI not informing Rudi about it is Yuge - and yeah, I would love to know what is not being made public. Again my cry to be on the DoJ's legal team - free worker! But holy shit, Rudi's world is absolutely collapsing. And Trump no longer has any of the control mechanisms he could have used to save him.

I thought so, but I'm hardly an expert. Glad to know I wasn't that far off.

    - - - Updated - - -

Yeah so...there's more, because the Shitshow never ends.

    1) That "sad Trump talks to crowd of six or seven" bit I posted earlier? That went on for forty-five minutes.

    2) We've also seen that there's only one reporter allowed in the Arizona recount, only as an observer. He's been thrown out, and was never told why.

    3) But it probably relates to a picture he took of one of the recounters -- who was a Republican running for office on those ballots.

The reporter did his job, showed the picture publicly, and was then thrown out.

    4) Also there's an issue with Cyber Ninjas using UV lights, which apparently damage ink.

The private companies hired by Arizona Senate Republicans to recount millions of ballots from the 2020 election are concerned about possible Antifa attacks and planned to use UV lights to hunt for fraud, internal documents released as part of a legal battle with Democrats revealed.

One document detailing recount procedure laid out plans to use microscope cameras and shine a “UV-B and UV-A source” on allegedly suspect ballots. But that document doesn't address how common ballot issues would be handled. For example, the document doesn't mention how counters would handle an "overvoted" ballot, where a voter appears to have been trying to vote for more than one candidate.

“The documents definitely have a lack of understanding of the specific way in which elections are conducted in Arizona,” said Tammy Patrick, a former Maricopa County elections official and senior adviser at Democracy Fund, a nonpartisan foundation aiming to improve American elections. “There seems to be a predetermined outcome here that I think is really problematic.”

National voting rights advocates have urged the Department of Justice to send federal monitors to observe the recount, an unprecedented situation they argue could easily run afoul of federal election laws. The ultraviolet lights, they say, are likely damaging ballots.
There's a well-known risk here, that of the recount "finding fraud" while themselves committing fraud, and that being the lame-ass limp-dick IMPOTUS excuse needed to make new laws that basically only allow white males to vote.

However, they're doing it so badly it might actually backfire. Lack of oversight is one thing, but being caught with multiple tools to damage or change ballots, and also, bringing in people to tally ballots which they are themselves on? This might be enough to actually show how fucking stupid this whole thing is, to the point that what few classic Republicans are left say "you know what, this is beyond the level of corruption we're willing to publicly side with". The Party of Trump is too far gone, of course.

    5) Lesser related, but also interesting: that AZ lawmaker used to be a cop, but was fired by "the Brady list" for stealing a laptop from evidence (or that's what it looks like). He was then elected, and has ever since tried to remove "the Brady list" which in turn prevents him from being a cop. He's also publicly said "I know there was fraud" and, yep, he's in there counting.

MI6 spy Christopher Steele 'produced second dossier on Donald Trump for FBI'

The dossier is believed to be raw intelligence that makes claims of Russian meddling and sex tapes

The second dossier contains raw intelligence that makes further claims of Russian meddling in the US election and also references claims regarding the existence of further sex tapes. The second dossier is reliant on separate sources to those who supplied information for the first reports.

The fact the FBI continued to receive intelligence from Mr Steele, who ran MI6’s Russia desk from 2006 to 2009 before setting up Orbis, is potentially significant because it shows his work was apparently still being taken seriously after Mr Trump took hold of the reins of power.

The new dossier contains, like the first, a series of raw intelligence reports on alleged Russian interference linked to Mr Trump and his associates.

The suggestion it includes further details of Mr Trump’s sexual exploits will infuriate the former president. On Twitter he has called the allegations a "pile of garbage".

The FAA reports an increase jump I do plan to finish eventually Kif spike in unruly and/or violent passengers.

"How big of a spike could it possibly be?"

    Well, in a normal year, it's 100 to 150. This year, it's 1,300.

    "But it's barely May!"

    Yes.

"I thought air travel was way down!"

    It still is.

"So how did this happen? And why post here? Oh, shit, it's anti-maskers isn't it?"

Yes. An almost exclusively Trump-based choice.

The behavior in question includes passengers refusing to wear masks, drinking excessively and engaging in alleged physical or verbal assault, including what the agency describes as political intimidation and harassment of lawmakers.

In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for example, a fistfight broke out amid a dispute over mask-wearing. In Washington, D.C., a passenger was escorted off a flight after arguing with flight attendants over the mask rule.

In another case, a flight bound for Los Angeles was diverted to Denver and forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger allegedly tried to open an emergency exit.

In recent days, Alaska Airlines banned an Alaska state senator for refusing to comply with mask requirements, according to The Anchorage Daily News.

It's stupid that it's happening but I'm glad that these airlines give zero fucks about summarily punishing these people. When I had to fly last December every airline was saying that refusal to not only wear a mask, but to wear the right kind of mask, would result in you being banned from that airline indefinitely. I certainly hope those airlines have a long memory.

These Trumpkins have needed a sore reminder that the world doesn't revolve around them since... well, 2016, but most of all in this still ongoing pandemic. I'm glad to see it handed to them any way it can be. Airlines have too many people's safety and too many national and international laws and regulations they have to follow to a T to casually turn a blind eye to these myopic morons.

Just days after Trump tweeted (no) posted on Facebook (not that either) held a White House presser (argggghh...) spoke on his patio (ah, nailed it!) about his yuge victory over Biden in the last election and told the foaming cultists in attendance to watch out for election fraud news from places like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia...

..it looks like his prayers were answered! CNN is reporting a guilty plea in case regarding election fraud in the state of Pennsylvania. Unfortunately for Trump, it's just one vote, as the man plead guilty and was sentenced to 5 years probation for voting in the name of his dead mother.

Also unfortunately for Trump, the fraudulent vote was cast for Trump "in an effort to reelect then-President Donald Trump, according to court records and Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer's office."

His excuse? He "was misled by 'propaganda and statements' that were made about voter fraud".

Now who would do a thing like that?

Ah the case where the white dude who plead guilty got 5 months probation, but the black woman in Texas out on supervised release who was never instructed that she couldn't vote was sent back to jail for five years for doing so....oh and her vote wasn't counted anyways.

On topic: McCarthy tells FOX News Cheney can't do the job.

"Basically, she refused to bow to our Orange God," he didn't say but may as well have. "We can't have a high-ranking member be a TINO -- Trumper In Name Only."

    Here's what he actually said:

There's no concern about how she voted on impeachment. That decision has been made. I have heard from members concerned about her ability to carry out the job as conference chair -- to carry out the message.

We all need to be working as one if we're able to win the majority. Remember, majorities are not given; they are earned. And that's about the message about going forward
I would love to hear any resident Trump supporter explain how Cheney can't do her job, other than that she isn't falling in line with "Whatever Trump says, goes". Like, name any non-Trump-based decision she's made. One.

I don't think there is one, and I'm not going to look, either. It's much easier to assume that the Party of Trump is purging, because that's where the evidence leads.

Yo, what the fuck is up with Republicans continually wanting to talk about the "good" of slavery and how slavery was all sunshine and roses and babies were born (ignore that it was often through brutal rape) and that's just lovely?

The historical illiteracy and low-key overt racism within the party continues to be mildly concerning.

    Wow. In New Orleans, too!

To be fair, even by Party of Trump standards, slavery-defending is an outlier. People who do such should still be named, shamed, and voted out of office.
