Most of the American market is obese. It's not like Sports Illustrated is marketing their tits and ass edition to Spartans. They're marketing toward people who eat Chiptole three times a week.

Except that there are tons and tons of genetic and medical reasons why someone would be more obese as well. Plus other genuine reasons beyond, "lol fat slob." (just not for Trump)

Viewing obesity as a moral failing is one of the most deadbrained things the "health" industry has ever pushed.

Markets change. As do standards of beauty. There are multiple points in history where that woman would have been an example of hotness and given how standards of beauty change it's hardly unlikely for it to happen again and the skinny woman would've been less desirable.

But more importantly ignoring your weird comment about being overweight being some sort of automatic moral failure beauty is entirely subjective, nor are the trends of "high status men" reflective of the overall market. Making your post objectively not worth its weight in dog shit.

Also importantly: Jordan Peterson has zero room to call anyone ugly/unattractive. Fat or skinny guy's not winning any awards for his looks especially since it seems like half the times I've seen him recently he looks like he's been living under a bridge doing meth. And even better is the same guy who cries and whines about cancel culture and claims to support free speech gets pissed and throws a fit when he suffers the consequences of his speech/has to accept that others can use their speech to give unwanted opinions about him.

No, pushing the idea that "genetic and medical reasons" make up a substantial share of obesity is one of the most deadbrained things the excuse industry has ever pushed. Most people are physically capable of maintaining a healthy weight.

Being obese is a moral failing in the vast majority of cases. I think you probably know this, no matter how hard that rationalization motor spins to make excuses for people that are sedentary and gluttonous. That's actually one of the good things about how this one works - you usually can't actually visualize the results of a lack of character, but you sure can with fat people.

Are you as ravishing a specimen as Jordan Peterson to be commenting on people's looks?

I didn't say "substantial", you did. If we want to discuss obesity in America that's not a moral failing either, but a cultural and economic failing more often than not.

I look pretty good. Right now I'm at ~11% body fat. I should probably lift more often, but my cardiovascular fitness is excellent. If I gained about ten pounds of muscle and dropped another couple pounds of fat, that would be for the best aesthetically, but I usually finish in the top couple percent of local races and am pretty happy with how I look.

Of course, there's the matter of someone appearing on Sports Illustrated's cover being a figure that's inviting commentary on their physique. Commenting on the physique of some rando from Facebook really would be rude and inappropriate, but commenting on the physique of someone whose job is entirely about looking good is clearly fair game.

Please, keep pretending that if Peterson hadn't commented on some "rando from Facebook" his fanboys wouldn't be rushing to his defense with cries of "well, they did put their picture out there!" It sustains me.

People are free to provide "commentary on her physique" all they like. The rest of us are free to call them fucking idiots. Especially when they whine about getting a "vicious flood of insults" in response to them shitting on how someone looks to their *checks notes* 2.7 million twitter followers.

And yet it's your opinion that she isn't attractive enough to warrant it.

Nobody asked Peterson's opinion on the matter, and no one cares. He chose to get butthurt that no one asked or cared. And if it spares us all his pseudo-intellectual claptrap, then I'm all for it.

Honestly, it's pretty funny how many people jump to defend the honor of fatties.

I definitely agree with @Kalredar that Peterson's soft as Charmin though. If you're going to take shots at people, you should be cool with catching shots back.

Unfortunately, this is not statistically likely. Red states/Republicans tend to be more obese - on average - than blue states/Democrats.

    Womp womp.

Is it a surprise though? Look at the last few Democratic presidents - thin guys who work out, ride bikes, and are in shape even in their advanced age. Look at the last Republican - obese, his biggest workout was walking from the golf cart to the tee and back, and he honest-to-god thinks people have a finite number of heartbeats and that exercise reduces your lifespan.

    https://www.npr.org/2022/05/17/10987...der-thats-fals

A conservative "election integrity" group called True The Vote has made multiple misleading or false claims about its work, NPR has found, including the suggestion that they helped solve the murder of an eight-year-old girl in Atlanta.

The claims appear in a new pro-Trump film called "2,000 Mules," which purports to have "smoking gun" evidence of massive voter fraud in the 2020 election in the form of digital device location tracking data. Former president Donald Trump has embraced the film, which has gained popularity on the political right, along with the claim about the murder case.

Trump's official spokesperson, Liz Harrington, said True The Vote "solved a murder of a young little girl in Atlanta. I mean, they are heroes." Fans of the film have echoed that message on social media.

    That claim is false.

Authorities in Georgia arrested and secured indictments against two suspects in the murder of Secoriea Turner in August 2021.

In response to NPR's inquiries, True The Vote acknowledged it had contacted law enforcement more than two months later, meaning it played no role in those arrests or indictments.

It's not the only false or misleading claim that True The Vote and Dinesh D'Souza, the director behind "2,000 Mules," have made, NPR found.
Man, Trump's pardoned felons just can't stop lying about shit.

I'd be more surprised if D'Souza started telling the truth at this point. Weird that conservatives keep lying about stuff like this which, topically for what some folks brought up just recently in this thread, is pretty morally gross when trying to claim credit for helping solve the murder of a child.
