Two years and counting into Trump's tenure, an opioid bill is finally on the floor.

The proposal is mirrored after the Ryan White CARE Act that fought the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1990s. Money will go toward first responders, public health departments and states for prevention and rehabilitation services. During each year of the 10-year proposal:

$4 billion would go to states, territories and tribal governments.
$2.7 billion would be distributed to the hardest-hit counties and cities, including $1.4 billion to counties and cities with the highest levels of overdoses.
$1.7 billion would go toward public health surveillance, research and improved training for health professionals.
$1.1 billion would be earmarked for public and nonprofit entities.
$500 million would be used to expand access to naloxone.
    "What's naloxone?"

Naloxone is a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose. It is an opioid antagonist—meaning that it binds to opioid receptors and can reverse and block the effects of other opioids. It can very quickly restore normal respiration to a person whose breathing has slowed or stopped as a result of overdosing with heroin or prescription opioid pain medications.

As you can see, the combined cost is less than the cost of one Trump Shutdown. So we clearly have the money to do this.

"Well, it looks like Trump and Conway finally got their act together! MAGA!"

Oh, no. They still have nothing. This is Warren's plan. I can't find anything Conway has done except claim that marijuana is laced with fentanyl despite even Trump's own DEA finding no evidence of this. I can't find any bill, or even proposed bill, from Conway, ever. Did I miss something? Please let me know and cite it. Until then, I'll be backing the only plan I know about.

    Yep.

I still remember Trump saying ISIS was defeated, and the Kurds/Syrians/Iraqis all being like "wut?"

    MhMM! That's some good whataboutism.

Or is it a "but Obama" lame argument? Either or it was a poor attempt by you.

No, it was pointing out hypocrisy.

    2. Obama never said they were defeated. Obama didn't take credit for their total defeat while they were still on the field and holding onto territory and capable of terrorist attacks.

He bankrupted casinos, and thought selling steaks at Sharper Image, an ELECTRONICS store, was a good idea.

Trump promises more sanctions against Iran for breaking the terms of the Iran Nuclear Deal.

"That's literally retarded. Trump already ended US involvement with the deal."

Yes. Yes he did. And, yet, here we are.

Iran celebrated the one-year anniversary of Trump not paying what he was contractually obligated -- yeah, big surprise, I know -- by announcing plans to start stockpiling heavy water and uranium past the amounts the Nuclear Deal allows, unless Europe makes concessions to counteract the economic damage Trump did by breaking the contract in the first place.

    "That sounds kinda like blackmail."

Well, to be fair, it's a lot like blackmail. But bear in mind, Trump applied sactions for basically no reason. Iran was adhering to the deal, and Trump decided Iran shouldn't sell oil anyhow. I don't think Iran has a very good reason to play by the rules, when the US changes the rules after the fact to make them far less fair.

    "But Iran is a terrorist -- "

And if these sanctions were in any way related to their terrorist activities, they'd be separate. But nope. These are about the Nuclear Deal. No handwaving today.

Europe has their own problems. Giving Iran extra money doesn't seem like something they're keen on doing. Odds are, Trump's decision to break the contract will end up with Iran just leaving the contract and, yep, working on nuclear technology again. If that sounds familiar, just look at North Korea. Except, you know, worse, because Iran was actually agreeing to inspections and such before.

This could yet be a pretense for Trump to go to war with Iran to save his Presidency.

So here's one of the many problems with being a Trump supporter: it's nearly impossible to keep up with his lack of direction.

For example, FOX and Friends looked at the NYTimes "Trump lost a billion dollars and doesn't pay taxes" and their take was

If anything, you read this and you're like 'wow, it's pretty impressive, all the things that he's done in his life.

I can’t imagine having that much money and spending that much money and being in debt. For him, it makes sense, he’s buying now, building it up because he had confidence.

For Donald Trump, he says ‘I got some money but I want to really expand my empire, I want to take chances,' That’s what he has done through his entire life.
Chances that didn't work, of course, but at this point who's counting?

Now, that's a valiant defense, right there. That's facing down a steam engine with a shield and claymore, yelling "Fuck trains!" while standing on the tracks as the whistle gets louder and louder.

Turns out, there's an electric train coming the other way.

Trump went on record saying the NYTimes story is Fake News. Which means, FOX and Friends just wasted their time going over a story and trying to find the good points...only for Trump to say the whole thing is fake, and they were wasting their time. Or, and this is the version I prefer,
    a) they said the story showed how courageous and smart and successful and what a big penis Trump has
    b) and the story was a lie
    c) so...he's not courageous, smart or successful?

I mean, if the defense is based on the story being true, and the story's not true...then...the whole story just falls apart like a corrupt businessman's erection in a porn star's hands, right?

Or, now stick with me here, you're just doing a bunch of rhetorical wanking that means nothing to no one.

    Your unabashed hypocrisy is astounding.

FOX defended it. Trump claimed it was a lie. There is no hyperbole there.

No one is above the law.

New York State to vote on two things:
    1) Whether they can release tax returns to Congress, and
    2) Whether they can prosecute those who get presidential pardons.

    Expect both to pass.

There is nothing to defend. If someone lost some money 30 years ago, I'm not defending them if I say, "wow, it's impressive that they still managed to make things work for themselves". That's literally just my opinion of what happened, I'm not saying it didn't happen.

Well, if they needed to pass a law for something to happen, I would imagine that means that no one was "above the law" to begin with, since the law didn't fucking exist.

WTF are you talking about? You accused Breccia of speaking rhetorically when he showed two things that actually happened. Fox defended something that Trump said was a lie.

So if it was such a big wonderful thing that he did lose all that money, and it was a lie and he didn't, then Trump didn't do this big wonderful thing. If he did do it and it was a big wonderful thing, then why did he lie about it?

    So to recap...

    - Breccia wasn't rhetorical
    - Fox defended it
    - Trump said it was lie
    - And those two things make a moral quandary.

Gets even worse when people keep giving the time of day to the crazy dregs of the forum so they can keep going around in circles.
