It's not, and the complete lack of even a basic plan from Brexit folks made that apparently clear.

So leavers voted against their own self-interest by voting to tank the economy? That's smart. Real smart.

The job of Government is not to "do what ~50% of the people want" but to do what's best for the country as a whole.

nobody asked about the type of deal, which bites UK now and will bite and sting for years to come.

you might think it dumb, i do agree, but the majority voted to leave and that is what should be happening. this is not leaving.

and yes, despite voting leave i would say i didn't vote for a no deal, my leave vote was entirely selfish.

i agree, and the best thing for the country would just be to ask the eu27 to revoke article 50.

That's okay. Voting selfish is the point of democracy. However, you tickled my interest... would you have been better or worse off with a no deal scenario?

LOL Calm down dear, eurochums keep getting excited about an "agreement" but what agreement? You have UK unelected civil servants meeting unelected EU ones, that is all. Any hypothetical agreement has no democratic legitimacy whatsoever anywhere currently.

You have a remainer Maybot PM leading a remain majority cabinet reluctantly agreeing the supposed agreement. With respect you have nothing. The meaningful vote in the UK parliament on it will not take place until mid/late December, it has no chance - do you hear me? NO CHANCE of passing that vote.

You have nothing but another wasted month of time until I receive my early sweet, by default running out of tick tocks, no deal Christmas present. It really will be the most wonderful time of the year.
13/11/2022 Sir Keir Starmer. "Brexit is safe in my hands, Let me be really clear about Brexit. There is no case for going back into the EU and no case for going into the single market or customs union. Freedom of movement is over"

personally? i'm not sure it would impact me, but if it did it would likely be a negative impact. as a country it would be a disaster.

which is why it would never happen.

Literally the best outcome of Brexit, makes sure everyone is equally disappointed.

So why vote selfish? I don't want to get personal, but were you legit mistaken about the consequences or.. did you have another reason that was outside of the whole discussion, like piss your gf off or something?

You didn't vote for a no-deal but you also didn't vote for any dealt. You voted to leave the EU and for the Government (in this case the Conservative party) to figure out the details.

You don't get it Dribs... if this "agreement" sticks, I'll be dangling the clock over your head for as long as you're a voluntary vassal state. And if it doesn't and you crash out, I will sympathize with the people in the UK that did not want this, but at the same time, I will be eating popcorn and hope you suffer the full effect of the consequences of your actions. You personally, not the people of the UK in general.

Either way, I will enjoy whatever happens. It's like a football game in group stages where I only need a point to proceed to the knockout stages. I'll be happy with the draw, but I'll be cheering for the 3 points, too.

From earlier in this thread it seems Floopa thought that voting for what Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage and Jacob Reese Mogg wanted would somehow lead to a Corbyn-lead socialist utopia, and if not she could give the UK the finger and piss off to France. At least with Dribbs we know they're happy to fuck over the UK for personal gain, with Floops it seems to be a massive misjudgement paired with general apathy.

i want a left wing government, so i voted leave in the hopes leave would win and it would force a GE - it did do that, but conservatives won narrowly, so i'm now hoping there is another one that LAB should win narrowly.

i never bought into the "wonders" of vote leave, i just hate the conservative party and whatever causes them the most damage i'll vote for. where i live specifically, Liberal Democrats have a better shot at beating Conservatives than Labour do, so despite being a Labour member i vote Lib Dems because fptp is fucking garbage and forces me to make that decision.

as for no deal, i mean i think it should be what the UK works towards. if a no deal turns the UK into a tax haven ala singapore, and strips away employee rights and human rights and privatises the NHS (to it's ultimate destruction) that is something i think the people of the UK would reject through a general election.

Isn't this what got you guys into trouble in the first place? Voting on European issues to do domestic politics? Why don't you seperate the two like every other member state?

you are of course right, but the UK is special : )

after all, we were repeatedly told the eu would be begging us for a deal and we would hold the strongest hand ; )

the only good thing about this deal is it stops us having a trade deal with the US directly. that is a win for every single person living in the UK.

On newsnight one Tory MP has stated they believe that over 48 letters Conservative MP have been sent to the 1922 committee. If this is true then a vote of no confidence will be coming.

Corbyn has met May and has basically denounced it here.
