Option 1: Barely any visual difference like gnomes (take the hair off and they even have the same animations)

More on topic, I think it's not as far-fetched as people think. Mur'gul (an intelligent species of murloc enslaved by the Naga), who were playable in WC3, still haven't made an appearance in WoW. That means, if Blizzard were to implement them, they'd have a blank slate for deciding their appearance, their stature, their culture - pretty much everything beyond the broadest strokes. And, if playable Naga are on the docket, it makes sense that the opposite faction might get an aquatic race as well.

Yeah, yeah, it's unlikely. But not impossible.

That might indeed be it. That it just refers to them having started their settling on a larger scale lately. But that settlement also kind of implies to me that they COULD still be a new playable race.... We'll see.

If Blizzard added Murlocs before Naga I feel like a lot of people would lose their collective shits. Honestly, I would lose my shit if Murlocs got to be a player race before Ogres :S

I think it's about time for a more light hearted expansion (With a dark undertone when you get further into it), similar to MoP. I don't think Murlocs will be the new race, but that would be cool, and I wouldn't complain if I was wrong.

Yes. I can see them in light expansion with South Sea and pirates themes.
