My reference to 'not lifting a foot' was not towards M KJ, but towards the end state of all tier raids where they over time become solo content. As long as they are current tier, they should continue to pose a challenge to the target audience progressing on it. All numbers indicate that KJ was most definitely an outlier and has been called the most difficult encounter in all of WoW history. The 'bar' doesn't remain static within a tier. Both explicit nerfs (hotfixes, tunes and patches to the encounter) as well as implicit nerfs (perpetual gear accumulation of which TF is an essential part, new gear sources (Broken Shore, Argus) and facilities (Netherlight Crucible) and non gear power inflation (AP/AK system)), smooth lowering the bar inside a tier.

Eh, I wouldn't say running bazillion split runs, raiding hours on end and doing 600+ pulls is "not lifting a foot", top guilds are top because they put inhumanly work into actually being cutting edge. That's kinda the issue, you can't expect wider audience in the bracket that requires 8-12h a day of play for a month at least (preparation + progress), there are very few people who fit into that category and also have the skill to pull it off. But even if you have the skill, but don't have time - you won't find place in a hardcore guild. They probably do as many pulls in 2-3 weeks of progress that an average mythic guild is gonna do across 5 months of tier.

They're more skilled because they can do it with less gear, no nerfs, and not lose focus after 8h+ of raiding, but it's also the fact their raiding is condensed in such a small window it looks like "progress is over quickly", it's not quickly if it took hundreds of pulls to take down bosses like Mistress, Avatar and KJ. And I don't think it's sustainable to make them progress even longer, several world top guilds stepped down from the world race because of exhaustion, they weren't getting that top spot, but they were still putting lots of effort to be top 10 etc., effort they could no longer justify.
