[Spoilers] Malfurion and Tyrande's behavior is worse than Pre-BfA Jaina

During Illidan's final words at the end of Legion to Malfurion and Tyrande in the upcoming raid, Blizzard managed to make them 5 times more obnoxious than what Jaina was before Battle for Azeroth expansion. He pours his heart out to Tyrande knowing that he's going to be sealed off, with Sargeras and the rest of the Titan Pantheon in their dimension for an eternity and Malfurion talks only about him being selfish and causing others pain, and Tyrande talks about how he didn't mean anything that he said and that he is lying to them. Malfurion used to be my favorite Warcraft character but their upcoming dialogues and actions from both Tyrande and Malfurion from either story point of view or creative writing are unforgivable. They are both being extremely obnoxious after everything is revealed about Illidians past, his sacrifices, his dedication and conviction and they even try to convince you (the playable character) that they are right and he is wrong. It's really dissapointing to see them suddenly becoming like this and probably this will be somehow related to Teldrassil being burned down which after what happened at the end of Legion they definately deserved it.

Malfurion and Tyrande has played out their role. Now is a good time to let them die off and give the reins to a new generation of Night elves that dares to lead their people forwards and not into eternal stagnation.

Illidan realised that he's left on read by both of them and asked his new besty Sargeras to spit a fireball in direction of Teldrassil.

I haven't seen it but they do sound like dicks, but how does that justify the destruction of Teldrassil? Many innocent Night Elves and Gilneans losing their homes (And possibly lives) because of the words of two people...

And where were they during the cinematic battle? Their home was burnt down and they were afk for such an important battle wtf.

Re: the bolded bit, no, you can't have it both ways.

    EITHER you can:

    A) Whinge about "bad writing", which this isn't, but you're on the internet, so you can call anything "bad writing".

    OR

    B) Say you think they're awful people and get really upset about them.

Pick one. You don't get both.

Looking at what's said, I cannot see this as "bad writing". This is totally in-character for Tyrande and Malfurion - you may dislike them, but Illidan fucked with them for a very long time, and they just can't and don't trust him. Does that make them asshole? Yeah kinda. But Illidan still is a total asshole too - sure did he it all "for Azeroth" or whatever, but he was a bit of a shit before he did it, and a lot of a shit afterwards. He's not some kind of humble Jesus-figure. He's a sneering, arrogant, "I'm too important to explain you!"-type of guy who is happy to murder good people if he believes it gets him closer to defeating the Legion.

Is he a fun character though? Fuck yeah, I'm glad they brought him back. It's just that pretending that their behaviour is unrealistic or "incorrect" or whatever seems like nonsense to me. So "bad writing" doesn't hold up". Pair of jerks kinda does though.

    Um. Think about that dude.

Malfurion is probably dead. He probably "went down with the ship", trying to prevent Teldrassil burning, or try to help Night Elves escape the burning. Tyrande might be dead but more likely is in mourning because her husband of several thousand years is dead.

Of course he might not be, but it's pretty likely.
