So, what made the alliance work with a faction that abandon them not once but twice?

That cinematic was Vol'jin sticking with the horde instead of leaving it for the Zandalari.

In BFA the horde is allying with the Zandalari.

Second post and thread is already off-topic.

I hope the stories for the allied races will flesh this all out and why ones such as the High Mountain Tribe fucked me over for helping them as much as I did.

Because it was the Prophet Zul who wanted to bring back the Troll Empire.

The Horde is working with King Rastakhan to purge Zandalar of the Blood Trolls.

See that wasn’t hard, was it?

    Splinter group etc.
Most Zandalari were still chillin on Zandalar. And those responsible have been disposed of.

Zul is the name of a mysterious Zandalari prophet. While the Cataclysm devastated Zandalar, Zul took a group of Zandalari warriors, led them them across the globe, united the other troll tribes together, and began the assault on Pandaria to regain ties with the mogu.
That being said, we definitely will be running into Zul and wrapping up that story. Personally I cannot wait to swear allegiance to King Rastakhan and be ordered directly to bring him the head of that traitors "prophet" dog.

The reason why? Because of their naval power quite simple.

Alliance already has Kul Tiras' support.
So Horde will have to build up their naval force if they wish to combat them in the Great Seas.

And their only choice for this task is, you guessed it, the Zandalari.
