Do bosses actually had a change to drop absolutely nothing before? I'm just surprised because I remembered none of that - which is pretty normal, given that I only really joined in the last year of classic WoW.

For your question, though, I'd just trust Blizzard to come up with a solution on their own. I suspect they would use a custom patch and balance the entire thing again to make sure nothing's too easy or hard, with content unlocked at regular intervals.
They might just follow classic's exact pattern of balancing, buffing, nerfing and content unlocking, but that sounds like a great deal of work - which isn't to say they wouldn't, I suppose.

PS: I think the title and the poll questions are somewhat misleading - some people probably think you are asking if we should nerf the 1.12 patch even more, but it's actually about whether or not we'll nerf the game from its 1.1 patch to the "casual" 1.12 patch.
    Unless I got that wrong.
Raid bosses dropped 2 items for 40 people and no bonus rolls, no mythic +. Nothing. Now think about a classic raid, you have 2 shamans and see 3 set items in one id, but 7 mages and not a single loot drop in one run...

There was nearly no progression. Today you 4 items/20 with bonus rolls and tokens arent only for one spec/class....

What do you mean by echo chamber? If you think there is a problem with the way major private servers have rolled out content (meaning 1.12.1 bug fixes, QOL changes and addon compatibility with blizzlike roll outs of content and balance changes) then I'd like to know what it is because any other alternative is going to have major downsides.

Because a sheer implication of running a 1.4 server/realm meets a "lol u scrub 1.4 suxxorz lol" or "well we are too lazy to run 1.4 mangos in parallel with 1.12.1", so, yeah, it's an echo chamber who can't comprehend that vanilla wow wasn't 1.12 wow.

But i'll reiterate again what i've been saying there for, well, ever:
    1) private servers are not providing you with vanilla experience, because they are frozen in time. MMORPG is about progress, not stagnation.
    2) private servers are not providing you with vanilla experience, because you play nerfed content with buffed classes and mechanics.
    3) vanilla wow had a lot of problems, players had no choice but to play through them (painfully coded escort quests, bugged abilities, bugged quests, fucking loot stuck bug) - all of this added to vanilla experience. There was nothing better to log into the game and see all your talents gone and talent trees completely revamped.

There was a heavily opinionated text of why blizzard should run through the "classic experience" shit first, make a list of bugs to be removed and to be left, then recreate the game with LUA functionality heavily limited, so players won't end up with LFG, bots and vanilla-gearscore addons

Classic had several lesser bosses that could drop nothing and several had some really good but rare items. Not every boss was supposed to be stronk even if they were in the way (or just because they were named).

Stick with 1.12, the changes were made for a reason. You do not get to cherry pick.

Content drought is a combination of catchup mechanics and no new content.

We're getting august 2006 1.12 catchup mob difficulty designed for 20 months after launch anyways
So you can aoe cleave every pack of elites in greens without strategy or CC like its BFA
Where a level 40 elite only hits a level 30 player for 5% to 10% HP
Ive asked and zero classic beta streamers are even interested in the difference between scuffed 2006 mobs and authentic 2004 mobs
They're more interested in power leveling, soloing dungeons and winning some duel tournament
So the narrative lives Vanilla dungeons and players were a joke
The only hope now is for our original founders to RISE AGAIN!

Why would anyone want any changes?

  10. #70
this is an indirect itemization buff.. haha
but i'd like to see a smarter loot drop system where things that no one in the group/raid can use would not drop.
this wouldnt really change anything in 5mans since theres always a warrior..
but it would be nice in raids, where horde and alliance would not have to deal with useless paladin/shaman drops.

I say we buff the s... out of the raids and dungeons (if like reported they are easier than on those servers not to be named) that is. I want the feeling of vanilla back not some cheesy easy mode that people can half arse.

This is why Blizzard is hesitant to do things for us.

Redpill: Vanilla was never difficult, we were just noobs.

Maybe, maybe not it was 15 odd years ago, so who knows ? But I am sure that the community wants a bit of a challenge while leveling, and if classic is too easy in comparisson to PS, then I say buff it!

it was quite difficult to obtain information, and when difficulty of obtaining information > difficulty of figuring it out yourself it's quite hard. It's not hard once you have everything figured out and you don't need to apply for opposing guild, so you can get access to their forum and steal their strategies to aq40, and figure out how to kill that blob boss finally.

That's fair, leveling experience of classic is definitely a huge value, which was degrading since TBC naturally

Old thread that someone necroed but i want pre-buffed gear to be in the game. I dont see any reason what so ever to have the buffed gear in classic. It will make all raids pre AQ40 totaly pointless and only Ouru and C'thun will be a challenge in there. Buffed gear is basicly saying "Well we only want you to really raid naxx". (You can raid AQ40 with green buffed gear up to and including Twins)

Classic is re-releasing 1.12, not an arbitrarily """buffed""" version of vanilla.

If you want leveling to be harder, just don't equip anything other than white gear. Problem solved.

    Confirmed never played vanilla.

I did play vanilla, your arguments are very strong however. Did you even raid in vanilla?
