Wes Goodman, Ohio state rep, quits over reported 'inappropriate behavior' with male

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017...with-male.html

Wes Goodman according to other sources is a anti gay advocate and family values Republican who was caught having sex with another man in his office and is now resigning because of it. This is the third story I've read recently about these so called family values Republicans getting caught being a hypocrite about what they preach against. First it was Tim Murphy asking his mistress to get an abortion, then there's Ralph Shortey who was caught soliciting sex from a 17 year old boy, and now we have Wes Goodman here. What I find interesting is how these events are happening so close together, makes me wonder who will get caught next.

Non-consenual sexual advances on underage females, perfectly OK. Consensual same sex relations with an adult man, unacceptable. Yea...

"Never be caught with a dead girl or a live boy"

In all seriousness, there are just so damn many state government officials that this sort of thing's going to happen randomly. I have zero to negative problems with a "family values" guy being proven a hypocrite, of course.

We just don't get this caliber of sass in politics anymore.

That one isn't the serious one.

On a fall evening two years ago, donors gathered during a conference at a Ritz-Carlton hotel near Washington to raise funds for a 31-year-old candidate for the Ohio legislature who was a rising star in evangelical politics.

Hours later, upstairs in a hotel guest room, an 18-year-old college student who had come to the event with his parents said the candidate unzipped his pants and fondled him in the middle of the night. The frightened teenager fled the room and told his mother and stepfather, who demanded action from the head of the organization hosting the conference.

Has it been too long to call this "Ted Haggard-ing?"

Also, this is my surprised face:

    Hitchens' Law strikes again.

"Whenever I hear some bigmouth in Washington or the Christian heartland banging on about the evils of sodomy or whatever, I mentally enter his name in my notebook and contentedly set my watch. Sooner rather than later, he will be discovered down on his weary and well-worn old knees in some dreary motel or latrine, with an expired Visa card, having tried to pay well over the odds to be peed upon by some Apache transvestite." - Christopher Hitchens
Populists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.

    Apache transvestite is oddly specific.

This has long ago ceased to be surprising.

The louder the hatred, the greater the probability that it's projection.

When your party platform starts catering to the extremes you end up with more and more of these types of folks in office.

Yet another reason why the GOP needs to take a reallllly long look at itself and what it's become.

People who know a struggle personally are the most outspoken about it. I'm not making the argument that being gay is bad here, don't misunderstand. But in an individual who believes that it is, his struggle is going to manifest itself in being outspoken about it. From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, as the saying goes.

But I'd be willing to bet there are a lot of fundamentalists on the religious right who say the same sorts of things these Republican politicians do and who never do the things they preach against, much more than the ones who do. We only ever really hear about the ones who do.
