Most fantasy works use similar concepts - little Deus Ex machinaes. We, ordinary people, do not know the advanced concepts of magic, so it will seem unimaginative.
It's like being cornered or in a trouble and suddenly a mage cries out: "Quickly, give me X, when I infuse it with Y I'm holding right now, I might be able to conjure a portal and get us out of here". Or "Hey, I have an idea - did you see those droids out there? They have a tracking devices around their "necks", if you could bring me some, I'm sure I could make a device from it, that would probably be able to override the flying controls on this big thing in the sky". Recognize the concept?
It seems bollocks just like "let's all just raise our weapons to the sky and drain the corruption from the Sargeras' sword" - but it's not, it works like that everywhere, advanced concepts of things working are often obscured and left out by the person who actually knows what she/he's doing. Would you rather like the complicated terminologies behind every magic/skill interaction? Yeah, artifacts differ in magic, some of them are fel, some arcane, some Titanic in nature - but they are all immensely powerful, which seems to have a bigger meaning in Warcraft in general, something having power itself. Doesn't matter from where this power is coming, Khadgar will find a way and that's ok for me, even if it's a little cheesy.
Most fantasy is cheesy, it's just the way it is.
I don't mind blizzard idea but I do believe it should be expanded on and the weapons being sealed away until they become stable and are needed again, cause let's be honest something sageras lvl will appear again.
I would end it by us actually banding in a quick simple scene where we do disintegrate the sword and would have siphoned the corruptio, and then your order give you one final solo scenario.
Ex of my class, demon hunter- we go on one final hunt, using our artifacts to kill a demon and use it corpse as a container.
Paladin- ashbringer naruu core awakens from the corruption and once you defeat it adal along with morgrain spirit seal it away Doomhammer- the elements deem your time to weild it over but you have to fight a perfectly arisen twilight ascendant then return the Hamm to the orcs in a Excalibur fashion for when it's needed.
Felomelorn- the sunwell is being overcharged by muru reawakening, use it to siphon and calm the well and use said energy to create a hidden backup well, will be used later for nightborne, and you have to leave the weapon there.
Warlock- the scythe is actually full...for now and goes dormant, thazkiel agrees to watch over if you give him a body, so you decide to fetch archimonds bones and give him a lich body. (2 artifacts technically)
Hunter-this one is split up by faction but same outcome.
Windrunner- either alleria or sylvanas will call her you to meet/escort them to their home, there all three meet up, argue before agreeing on one final mission (be a dick to the Amani who pulled a zuldrak and consumed a loa to try and take quelthalas once more) at the end the sisters agree that they can't fight as one but they won't use thier family legacy against each other and seal it away with all threes bloodline needed you lock the vault.
That's all I got for now.
Pretty sure I explained that, yeah I did “just like the dragon aspects losing their powers we over EXHAUST the weapons capabilities”
They poured their power into the dragon soul so much that it drained all of their powers, plus I’d rather have that then “oh shit! Garrosh is using the powers of an old god!” *send in the dragon aspects*
The handing your artefact over suggestion is like 10x worse than Blizzs. Not to mention it doesn't really make sense, the PC can at least be trusted with these weapons, what if they fall into the hands of someone who would use them otherwise.
Because saving the world is a lousy way for real heroes to lose something they value so much.
"I Am Vengeance. I Am The Night. I Am Felfáádaern!"
What if... We use our artifacts to drain the corruption from the sword wound, deposit our corrupted artifacts in the special hazardous waste bin conveniently provided by Magni, only to have him BWAHAHAHAHAHA and reveal his true nature as a corrupted servant of N'zoth?
"I Am Vengeance. I Am The Night. I Am Felfáádaern!"
Oh this could actually work. I was wondering if after we lost our artifact we would be completely 'disarmed'. But they could just turn it into a epic or legendary with mediocore stats (for BfA) that would be replaced after of couple of lvl into the expansion. You would still keep it, but more as a memento and not the all powerfull thing it once was. Maybe place it on the powerup altar to look at in game?
Yes. They are all artifacts and have been empowered through out legion with different sources of power. Did you even play Legion?
There is a difference between telling you your ideas suck and being a brainwashed blizzard fanboy. Barely anyone, if anyone did, has said everything Blizzard does is holy. It is typical hate boi rhetoric that when your idea isn't seen as good you start insulting people as being a fanboy of blizzard. Isn't it possible that you are wrong and you don't have any better ideas?Thank you, I almost started to think everyone here was brainwashed blizzard fanboy, who thought everything Blizz does is holy.

Now we know you are just trolling.

That sounds lame. Oh guys you can't possibly kill anymore things with me so I'm not going to work any longer. Again you hate everything Blizzard does because it is by Blizzard. While praising anything that isn't blizzard even though it is just as lame.

But it isn't. Head cannon isn't real.

And yet it isn't story telling when the weapons lore ends with draining the power from the weapon of Sargeras. You can't use story telling only when you want to.
"Man is his own star. His acts are his angels, good or ill, While his fatal shadows walk silently beside him."-Rhyme of the Primeval Paradine AFC 54
You know a community is bad when moderators lock a thread because "...this isnt the place to talk about it either seeing as it will get trolled..."
No one here is.
Blizzard's way isn't ideal, but it's something passable, a good compromise because individual approach will just be hated just as much, since there will be complaints about "my story isn't cool enough, but x's is the best, dafaq Blizz?!!". So no, they found a middle ground, so good for them. But all of your 'ideas' are plain awful on many levels.
Especially that bit with Lor'themar, I've got quite a kick of it. So, put plainly, he's declaring a war on the leader of the Tirisgarde and the Kirin Tor, going in with an armed force. And why he does that? Because he wants Felo'melorn. Like really, that's IT? The leader of the blood elves who was actively advocating AGAINST Garrosh's warmongering ways, in your story, goes full one-eighty and follows in his footsteps. Just because he wants a toy, that was never his, neither there are any Sunstriders left alive to have a legitimate claim. We already saw what the "claiming the legacy" aspirations did to Garrosh and Lor'themar is neither young nor hotheaded enough to do the same.
Meh, I like the idea of sacrificing your weapon to save the world. It's a fitting end to a story arc. I just hope that there is a little bit of an individual twist per weapon.
Ret Pallies get some props from Fordring.
BM Hunters get to say goodbye to Hati
BrM Monks get one last chance to be shit faced
That sort of thing.
They aren't really buuuut thrall deep down has some obvious regrets and magic in wow is run off will and emotions. So since he isn't facing his personal issues he can't really weild or use the elements as well as the doomhammer.

I thought about it for knaifu but I think she wouldn't settle for a corpse, and I think that ultimately she would lurk in the nightmare near that void flower thing. ....probably to reappear later as either a boss or ally, just might be a phantom or female acendant, I really don't know.
IMO a single "passing the torch/artifact" quest/in-game cutscene to your class hall leaders would've worked better.
Why would I give up the Ashbringer? I don't care if the Silver Hand want it back, it's one of the strongest weapons in the entire world. Blizzard HAD to have them lorewise either drained of their power or destroyed. There is no way to spin it that people wouldn't question why they're using a leveling green instead of artifact weapons of untold power.
Good job, I don't have a career in writing, that's why I studied to work in a lab.
I'm not arguing for keeping our weapons. I'm giving a reason why they needed to be destroyed or drained of power in the lore to make logical sense of why we would not use them. Blizzard needs to write the weapons out of the story for now, not decide to give to them to another NPC who can just as easily use it.
