That probe was no probe in particular until they CHOSE to name him "probius" for HotS.
"We've got this probe hero we've been designing, what do we name him?"
"well there was that one probe from the LotV cinematic that we never explicitly killed off... eh, use that guy. Name him something like... Probious, but not so obvious"
He still had no lore significance or role. He was just a random non-combat pet whose name they happened to like.murky, what the fuck? dude he has had a pet in wow since like 2005

He didn't have lore. He was a generic murloc pet that they named Murky, and decided to give him themes over and over, "he's a murloc, no he's a crusader, no he's a deathwing murloc, no wait he's now a demon hunter murloc"...there wasn't any established lore for him, they just wanted a cutesy murloc pet that they could put in various costumes to give as a reward for getting Blizzcon tickets/collectors editions/etc.
There is also Franko Tildon first of Firebats, but yeah his lore is not established as well only description from Wings Of Liberty.
So yeah, better put a new guy and establish lore for him.
.
Well, i think we can all agree Blaze is an awesome name for a guy shooting fire.
sorry but you are grasping at one small tiny straw. the point stands is they took one tiny little (joke) and created a whole character out of it
making something out of almost nothing is basically the same as making it out of nothing
also battle pets arent canon and never were, never will be
Romance doesnt detract from a story. Its a Genre, like horror or comedy or adventure. The game was ruined when we got Horror in drustvar or nazmir. It wasnt ruined when we had funny quests. So if you think a little man on man love ruins the game, then yes you are either a homophobe or just a spoil sport that goes "ewww kissing is yucky" like a baby. Furthermore, if a character has never expressed interest in any gender, then its not proof they are straight. straight people are not the default
They need to space out well-established character releases. They can't just put every character that had a role in their games first and then start filling the roster with no-names. Noone will be hyped for that. I like how they are releasing big characters during special events, they deserve this.
Murky wasn't in Borean Tundra. There was a murloc camp there, lead by a guy in a murloc suit, there were also a few questgivers. Murky wasn't one of them. The murloc "king"(the guy in the suit) went to Highmountain and that was where they brought Murky into WoW.
Also, the "names" are Murky's name suited to fit the costume. You aren't really so dense that you think "Legionnaire Murky", or "Knight-Captain Murky" or "Murkablo" aren't supposed to be Murky, are you?
legionaire and knight captain i give you that.
but murkablo is a differant murloc.
akso murky is the name of alot of baby murlocs it seems, as this is multiple colors of murloc. Legionaire murky and knight captain murky look differant then normnal murky.
And again, what gives you the right to decide that a battle pet is not "established"

except they are, for example uruun is very much cannon, among other battle pets
Man, they REALLY need to hurry up and release some info about this guy.
I don't actually care about the character anymore, I just need this thread to be something other than "Lets argue about if Murky is a Lore character or not!"

a champ whose name somehow references his gimmick, what a surprise :v
Because there is literally no lore for them in game. "Established", by definition, requires lore and history. It's like saying "what gives you the right to decide that water must be wet?". The facts give me that right, actually.
And yes, the various murky pets have colors that SUIT THEIR COSTUMES, but they are all the same murloc. Murky as Diablo? Murkablo. Murky as a gladiator? Murkimus. Murky as Illidan? Murkidan. It's not hard to follow mate.
