    Varimathras Mythic help

    Hey folks,

Our guild reached Varimathras yesterday and it's not pretty. I'm the 3rd tank charged with escorting the people with Necrotic Embrace out, but there's almost always something wrong going on, especially related to the exact positioning of the add which spawns when I move out to clear the debuff once i'm done escorting. Sometimes it spawns in front of me which lets the melee hit it, other times it spawns something like 10 yards apart and melee never have the time to get to it and kill it.

So in short, exactly how do I manage to clear the debuff while ensuring the add is in a favorable spot? It just seems incredibly fiddly to me, so any advice is appreciated.

Its pretty much rng it just spawns around you, but what you should do is bench people that does low dmg to the add, all of melee should hardswap and run out to the add. There is no enrage on this boss and guilds are 3 healing it on progress. Just have people step up their game. Honestly not much you can help with on vari other than killing adds.

The "aha!" moment for this boss is when your DPS begin to realize that their DPS to the boss does not matter and it's all about pooling resources to kill the adds that spawn at ranged as those are particularly the ones that are troublesome. The adds that spawn in melee tend to die pretty fast.

As a balance druid, I frequently overcap AsP just to be sure I have 3 GCDs worth of Starsurges to dump into the adds.

Some specs are just really bad at 5s burst window, so you may need your warlocks to not go Affliction (which is super strong on boss damage but doesn't bring a lot of value to add damage). Be sure to bring enough non-Affliction warlock ranged and remind your DPS that the "real" DPS meter on the fight is damage done to Shadows and *not* damage done to Varimathras

I found that instead of running to the side I was able to get them more consistently near the boss by running in to the boss after and then out at a diagonal. This usually made it spawn in the boss model or right next to the raid group. There were occasional ones that spawned in my run path, or in front of me, but since they were closer to the boss melee just had to step out a few yards to hit it.

When I did it by running in and then at a right angle to the right or left it repeatedly spawned in front of me or by a tank which made it harder to see or would pull melee out too far that when it overlaps near fissure they would spawn them in a line by not getting back fast enough.

Leap(if you're also a warrior) seemed to help, as it felt like it would spawn based off my take off point and not necessarily where I was when I got 8 yards apart. But, that could be all conjecture as I heard things like RP walk backwards facing the boss, it was dependent on where your back faced, where your front faced, etc. etc. and none of it was repeatable.

Thanks for the info, I'll try running into the boss, but the main issue I see with that is accidentally giving Embrace to one of the tanks. We'll have to take a look at our positioning perhaps.

Good tips all around, thanks folks!

The add spawns behind you. Turn away from your raid and run. Run further so that the melees making a step or two towards the add do not get a tick from your necrotic embrace expiring.

You don't actually run through the boss towards the tanks, you take a V type pattern, or I guess 45 degree angle out. So, instead of a lot of videos where you see them run in from orange/tank soak spot then make a hard 90 turn and run out, instead make a turn that's 45 and run out so it spawns closer for less melee movement. -- you can see it here https://youtu.be/IrCHsGC7aJ8?t=47

That doesn't work. The add spawned multiple times in front of my face. I even turned around, faced the boss, rp walked backwards and it would still spawn in front of me and behind me.
