Does the setup of a team in quickmatch even have some criterias?

So i played 2 games as a tank, since i have the quest.

    First game:

3 tanks, support, assasin (Enemy team: tank, support, 3 assasin)

    2nd game:

3 tanks, 2 support (Enemy team: tank, support, 2 assasin, 1 specialist)

Is the only requirement for quickmatch to have a low waiting time?

Why cant the teams at least be similar?

We lost both games (20min, 9min). We couldnt even scratch their towers while they were reigning over the map and us.

The only thing I've found frustrating is that it (seems) to rarely put supports in (fine it's a less popular role w/e) but whenever I queue as support I get into a game with one other on my team and two on the opposing :P

That said, I find QP to be random enough (skill and otherwise) that team composition isn't the match decider nearly as much as other factors are.

There is several setup criteria, but since it's putting random teams against eachother without a draft, it is bound to be a little random.

And there's also the problem with people judging their team before the match or without even knowing wtf each hero in a comp can do. There's still some people, to this day, that think that every warrior is a relevant tank, or that every support is a full healer. Mentality will bring defeat before the enemy team does.

But yeah, teams in quickmatch are similar enough already. People gotta learn how to work their comp.

Yes, these are the Quick Match rules:
A warrior will always face another warrior.
A support will always face another support.
There will never be more than 1 stealth hero on a team.

HOWEVER, if you queue as a team (even just two people), you can break all the rules. It's only for when everyone solo queues.

    No mirrored heroes.
If one team has a healer so must the other
If one team has a non-healing support so must the other
If one team has a warrior the other team must have at least one too (this isn't always enforced).

That's it now. There used to be specialist and stealth limits, along with consideration for crowd control and displacements. Those rules have all been removed.

I also noticed when I locked as random which said you will get most needed role so I was expecting to get support right. BUT it gave specialist even tho we already had one just because enemy didnt have any support heroes

the criteria reduces depending on whats available to aid finally getting a match.

This ruined HOTs for me. I strongly disliked the toxic players in rank, and quick match never has a "normal" comp. I'll play warrior and get no healers. I'll play healer and get no warriors. At least both teams have similar comps, but matches are terribly different without a more standard comp.

Literally 90% of my matches could be fixed fixed by swtiching 2 heroes around, I still don't get how the enemy gets 3 specialists tank and healer and we get 3 tanks with 2 supports.

    This is false.

This game just lacks players... I dunno why QM players are not honest enough to realize that.

Blizzard is stupid because they almost never offer the bonus xp to random select characters. This would fix most of QM problems.

Leveling Blaze to 10 atm, last night had 3 matches in a row with a Blaze also on the other team. Happens but only after a long queue time when they can't find suitable comps.

Been playing HotS for six months now and not once has there been an opportunity to choose a random role for extra XP.

Ah, just saw @Ahhdurr made the same point.

I would honestly love if auto-select consistently had bonus xp attached to it.

Overwatch has a very similar problem where you frequently get 3 or even 4 support mains on the same team scrambling to put together a viable comp. These kind of composition problems could very easily be addressed by the matchmaking but aren't, most likely to keep queue times down. Sacrificing fairness to an impairing degree is really a trend in all Blizzard games. Until the community as a whole realises just how unfair these matchmaking systems are and how predetermined a large percentage of matches are, Blizzard won't change a thing.

Personally I'd rather wait an extra minute for a balanced comp, but that is just me apparently.

It only happens in ~15 minute queues. You are probably misreading characters.

You will almost never end up in a situation with no healer if enemy team has a healer. You won't end up in a situation with no tank if enemy has a tank, if the game fails to find a tank for you you end up on a bullshit map like hanamura (rip).

Not true. If you queue up as Alarak in QM you get matched against Sonya, who is a Warrior, or vice versa. The same happens if you queue as either Abathur or Tyrande. Quick Match rules generally try to match roles based on Warrior, Assassin, Support, and Specialist, but there are pools of Heroes where the matchmaker thinks you should be matched against each other despite them not having the same role label.

Blizzard frankly needs to rework the labels entirely, since their current iterations are extremely broad and non-specific. Plus, certain Heroes synergize very well with each other while others make zero sense when on the same team, and this is without even partying up with people. Certain Heroes can be almost completely unplayable depending on both the map and team comps, which is why you get so many Tracers, Genjis, Novas, etc. that become pure pub stompers since the random nature of QM doesn't give you enough tools to combat them.

Alarak and Sonya have the same role though. I don't get why people still see only 4 roles as in tank assassine spec and support. This was never the case in hots. A Medivh is fundamentally different from a Zagara, a Sonya is fundamentally different from ETC, Zeratul is fundamentally different from Kel Thuzad.

Quick match actually has a very reliant and indeed meaningful role distribution (only gets knocked out by premade teams of course). People should really start to adapt to that instead of getting tilted when your malthael faces a dehaka or your Sonya faces Alarak as counterpart - they are one role and actually direct logical "counters" on that role to each other.
