Fact still remains that most of the world has stopped investing in it, even the banks... and that should be enough of a sign.

No they aren't... The thing you linked was about The World Bank... An entity that provides loans/encourages investment within developing nations to encourage that development... So they are essentially saying they will not help developing nations expand into oil extraction, their reason being to curb climate change.

And oil consumption isn't declining... Most experts forecast it will EXPAND by millions of barrels per day within the next few years...

It's actually a genuine and educated statement.

When the US starts shifting a lot of it's economy towards fossil fuels (coal, oil, etc) that part of the economy will become subject to the same threats Venezuela suffered. Not only that, the only reason why Russia's economy is struggling is also because of the falling oil economy. There is literally no sane reason to think that investing more in oil or becoming the lead producer is a good thing... the previous lead producer was Russia and they're suffering due to similar reasons as Venezuela.

Russia is not the US? They, like Venezuela (though to nowhere near the same extent), heavily rely on oil... And most of its extraction is state owned... Upwards of 70% of their exports are oil and natural gas, it is 20% of their economy, and it accounts for a majority of their government revenue...

None of those things are even remotely similar to the oil industry of the US... Oil (and gas) is .8% of our economy... We are a net importer of oil, not a net exporter, and our government makes almost nothing in terms of revenue from the oil extraction industry...

Republicans should think further than their noses instead of feeling that "oil and coal is good because democrats don't like it!"
