Will this get my son through BFA

    Hi all,

My son has now started playing wow which I love as we can chat and do things together.

His laptop is very old and crumbly now and I am thinking of upgrading him to this....

Will upgrade him to an ssd when funds allow. Will it get him through BFA at Least? His current laptop lets him play at 7fps so I know it will be better than that, but will it last BFA?

    Thanks I’m not very technical...

BFA will not be -that much heavier-.

That said when someone plays with 7 FPS that laptop will be godly, whats the maximum budget you can go?

Around £400 for now if I’m honest, that was best I could find with a decent chip and a gpu

I know its a little over your price range but its still do-able and this will actually last him a long time

Does it need to be a laptop?

I would also suggest thinking about buying desktop computer for gaming. If it have to be laptop then mby look for something a bit better cause laptop that you linked is about minimum spec https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/137431 for BfA. On the other hand I think the one that PhantasmagoriaX suggested should be fine.
Check this https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/cpu-comparison it's good read. And here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaby_L...e_R_processors you can see list of current Intel mobile processors. Although I'm Intel and nVidia fan these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryzen AMD Ryzens are not bad at all so if you find laptop with them consider it also.

Get what you pay for. BFA ain't out till September, some time to gather more funds. 4GB RAM looks a bit tight too. CPU is dual core 2.5GHz. Can't believe it has a dedicated GPU at that price though.

I saw this one too but you have to add vat to the price so that’s another £100

He wants a laptop as he plays in all sorts of places and has no room at home for a desk top. I think when I upgrade for a ssd I’ll stick in another 4gb of memory, that’s Christmas sorted then.

    Thanks for your help guys

I strongly advice against buying "gaming laptop" of unknown brand. You are bound to run into issues such as low quality components(plastic), overheating, noisy fan

It is not a good laptop and it can't handle WoW or games well.

8gb ram minimum, 960m or 1050 gt Nvidia graphics card and at least 2 intel cores.

There are pcs coming out with Intel+Vega or Ryzen+Vega could be worth looking into and have reasonable price points

Considering the game requirements, I am sorry the laptop will not be great for gaming. However, you can consider machines such as the new RyZEN or Vega combined with intel or check OCUK KINETIC R1 GAMING PC - AMD RYZEN "RAVEN RIDGE" RYZEN 3 2200
