PC build for FF14. (preferably as cheap as possible)

Ok here we go. I need to build a new pc for FF14 because my current one is having issues (apparently some FX CPUs don't mingle well with the DX11 client or so I've read and it seems my FX 6300 is one of them) so here we go.

I'd prefer it to be as cheap as possible but with decent parts. Preferably an Intel CPU like the new I3 quads or even a Dual Core is more than enough since I don't play anything intensive. Would prefer an aftermarket air cooler as well. I mean all I really play outside of FF14 is Indie stuff, WoW, other Blizzard games and GTA 5.

GPU. Not picky. Nvidia or AMD whichever has the better price for performance.

Do I need an OS? No I have Windows 10 ready to go since it's tied to my MS account.

If I missed any info out feel free to tell me where and I'll add it.

A budget would help out a lot. Unfortunately, video card prices are insane atm and will be roughly half your budget lol.. But, give us a budget and maybe we can come up with a build.

Admittedly I hoped people would work with "as cheap as possible" hehe but if I had to name a number anywhere between £400-600. (I know GPU prices have gone up but I'm not after a high end one.)

400 seems unlikely of course it's just guesswork.

Oh and wouldn't mind a sound card as well if it's feasible.

$400 is real tight if you're building from scratch. Real tight. It's possible and if you're building exclusively for FF14 it's probably doable with a little finagling.

It sounds like you have a full system already, why not recycle some parts like your storage drive, case and PSU?

This APU has a built in GPU and is decent for the price and you get a true quad core thats actually a good CPU.

To give an idea of what Thorianrage suggested here's a video of a 2400G at 1080p Standard with DDR4-2933 CL16 memory:

Otherwise if you're keen on building from scratch then something like this is about as good as it'd get in this market especially if this is already outside your budget:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: Intel - Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor ($61.48 @ OutletPC)
    Motherboard: MSI - B250M PRO-VD Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($35.99 @ Newegg)
    Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($89.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($46.49 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Phoenix Video Card ($209.00 @ B&H)
Case: Fractal Design - Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($34.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: SeaSonic - 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($34.90 @ Newegg)
    Total: $512.84

If you're able to save components such as the case and hard drive then that money could be put towards a Ryzen 3 setup like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 1300X 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($114.99 @ Amazon)
    Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($64.89 @ OutletPC)
    Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Phoenix Video Card ($209.00 @ B&H)
Power Supply: SeaSonic - 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($34.90 @ Newegg)
    Total: $523.77
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Or you could just go with a full 2200G build:

    CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($99.98 @ SuperBiiz)
    Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($64.89 @ OutletPC)
    Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($46.49 @ OutletPC)
Case: Fractal Design - Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($34.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: SeaSonic - 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($34.90 @ Newegg)
    Total: $381.24

The caveat with this is that you may have to get someone to update the BIOS for you providing the board isn't shipping with the latest. Either a local hardware store or leave a memo while buying it to see if they can do it for you.

And AMD (Note you can get the 2200G for around 20$ less it does come with a good integrated GPU and may be good enough for ff and GTA. This option does come with the potential need to BIOS flash.)

All three(4 if you go the 2200G) builds should work. The Pentium is the cheapest option to get you going. The AMD gives you a longer upgrade path as long as you're willing to do a BIOS flash. Intel will give you an upgrade path up to a k skew i3 or even i5/i7 in the 8th gen.

You do not need to get the case or SSD assuming you have one already you can use. If youre current GPU is at least a 660ti/760/950, the 1050 isnt going to be a huge upgrade, and i would just use what you already own to save more money.I do recommend getting a new PSU if your current one is mroe than 3 years old. Nothing worse than building a new computer and your PSU dying 6 months in.

Also, all of the stock coolers should be good. If you want to get an aftermarker one, https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

    Should suffice.

Oh no not dollars lol. UK pounds.

I admitted myself it would be tight due to the prices of certain elements.

But thanks to you and everyone who posted I appreciate it. Got some builds in mind now at least.
