I know they said they are getting people and is pretty early on in development, but lets remember this is a game they allready made, so its not like they need 4 years to build something groundbreaking.

Some info drops here and there would be great, like whats the plans on QOL changes are they happening or not? i hope not, but atleast its something that will create more ppl talking about it. what patch are we getting? whats the plan on raids, will all be out at launch or will it be on a set time schedule? is it going to be 1 server or 2? pvp rankings, so many questions... :P
Because it's not just as simple as you try and make it out to be.

They have to get it up and running on modern architecture, fix any bugs that appear, recompile the game itself still, get it set up on Battle.net and so on. There is quite a lot to do. And then time when to release it.

The most likely release window is when there is a content lull.

Never said its an easy feat, but its blizzard we're talking about here, not some small indie company with limited resources.

If its so far away why would they announce it now? it makes no sense

Getting Vanilla servers ready is probably not a high priority for them, hence the team might not be as big to get ready super soon.

So people don't go to private servers and enjoy Vanilla there, to get the word out they're doing it, etc.

Because they can announce something like this so far away. It will still get a huge influx on launch.

Also their priority now is getting BFA out of the door first. Not Classic.

Don't expect much news on Classic until Blizzcon, there might be a few interviews where they drop some information when asked, but it's highly unlikely they will give a big update until they launch the beta.

Oh wow really? I missed marketing 101 so let's ponder this. A 13 year old game which, at one time, was the most played game in the world, hasn't had enough exposure? Did I get that right? You think the people interested in paying to play WoW Classic haven't played WoW before? Or are you trying to suggest these people willing to pay for WoW Classic are unfamiliar with Blizzard and their game lineup?

Because the pressure had been on them for a couple of years to announce it, so of course they would rush into announcing it once they were sure it would be doable and once the greenlight had been given.

As for news: A recent Forbes interview indicated that one of the main issues is the fact that all of the databases they used in Vanilla are out-dated and no longer supported, so a large chunk of the process will be getting that modernized. I don't think there's really much of a way to make that sound exciting or anything when the whole thing sounds extremely tedious and repetitive.

You said it yourself. It's a 13 year old game meaning there is a whole generation that has never experienced WoW (as it was). Meanwhile, there's also the old customers that left long ago that will return. Do I really have to explain this? Isnt it self-evident? You dont need a business degree to figure out that old classics can generate revinue in several ways.

Classic should be ready in late 2019 or early 2020.

I agree. They can atleast hype up some small class balances to make some specs viable or QoL improvements that don't affect gameplay, exploration, or the social structure. But really it will probably be best to keep quiet about it and just let us find out at launch and then watch all the purists still play because it doesn't mess anything up. Its going to use the retail client so I would be absolutely surprised if there wasn't some type of changes. I cant wait to rub it in at IF general chat.

    What info ?
We know it will be vanilla wow as close as possible (sorry QoL nutjobs, that's a fact).
We know they barely have the dev team assembled.
We know it won't be released in 2018.

There's no info to be given about classic, we allready know everything from vanilla. Only the release date is a mistery. And we are way too far away for blizzard to give one. Maybe next blizzcon, and even then I doubt it (that's the only NON fact of this answer, deal with it).

Their focus is on the bread winner of the 2, AKA new content for current players.

BfA news as to release dates and such, is probably far away. They acknowledged already that they were a bit too early with announcing the Legacy servers.
