These fearless Half-Elven women are masters of survival and wilderness exploration. Trained to hunt down renegade Orcs and Trolls in the wildlands of both Azeroth and Lordaeron, the Rangers are a force to be reckoned with. Being Half-Elven, the Rangers are often avoided by members of the High Elven stock. However, these crafty females make their home in the wilds and seldom feel the need for the distractions of camaraderie. Rangers are expert marksmen with the longbow and carry specially weighted bows and magically enhanced arrows.
Silver Covenant and Highvale are half-elves confirmed?

The Alliance gets the Horde's most popular race. The Horde should get the Alliance's most popular race in return. Alteraci Humans for the Horde!

If I remember correctly in the early development of wc3, it was proposed to add that unit as a half-elf, because the high elves were going to be a faction separate from the human faction and they wanted to leave the human faction a hero that looked like alleria. but in the end the human faction had the blood elves and kael / blood mage as hero because content was cutRangers were originally meant to be a hero unit of the Human Alliance. They were described as such:
keyboardturn posted some interesting tendril-to-braids concepts in her Twitter:
Original tweet here.
Whatever...
Why is it that blood elves are getting 200 jewels, but the void elves are getting nothing new in that department? Wtf Blizzard...
That definitely rings the ranger fantasy here. I hope we'll see male versions soon.
I really wish Blizz would reflect on the art fans do on this regard. Just look how many great suggestion only high elf fans made so far, and there are many other fan works for other races too... not to mention brilliant artists like Handclaw, who did heritage armor variants for all race/class combos.
Seen on Valarynn's twitter, the tentacle of the hairstyle is replaced by hair.

With all the examples that can be found on twitter or other, I hope Blizzard will take inspiration from it to add it to the game.
With this kind of option it would allow us to have a greater choice of hairstyles !
I’m loving the braids/hair that are replacing the tentacles. If they can allow one to look like a normal high elf (excluding racials) then I’ll be very satisfied by it! As I’m sure the many high elf fans are by coming up with these great design concepts!
It’s great to see how much more frequent people are becoming with designing high elves, it’s something that’s predicted.
If it exists in the game then art is made for it! Just as we saw no fan arts of Void Elves until they were a thing.
Now I look forward to all the Alliance High Elf fan art we’ll see once everyone gets access to Shadowlands and sees all the new customization options!
So do Void Elves get access to the regular BE hair colors like we wanted?
I'm a bit misinformed to this topic lately.
I don't think it's spite really. There's a ton of work to be done to get Shadowlands ready for launch in the time frame Blizzard wants to release it, and allied races were not supposed to be getting much in the way of customization focus for launch. The fact that Blizzard decided to give Void Elves the skin tones as High Elf customization options, I think, was very generous and a recognition that the demand for High Elves was not fulfilled by Void Elves as they were at release. I'd be surprised if Void Elves didn't get some additional hair color options for launch but even if they don't it's almost a certainty that they will when allied races get more customization focus.
Blizzard may have much more than we expect in regards to High Elf customization for Void Elves, but with so much focus they've already given, there is an understandable level of "fatigue" over the matter among players and Blizzard may simply be showcasing other things before revealing more in regards to High Elf customization. There's also a fair number of players that are understandably upset that Void Elves are getting so much attention when races like Nightborne also need a great deal of love to meet player expectations. Blood Elf players are also underwhelmed with their customization options, which largely seem relegated to jewelry that will end up hidden under armor in many cases. As a core race, Blood Elves really need more, especially since they are sharing their skin tones (and potentially hair colors) with Void Elves (an allied race that isn't supposed to be getting as much attention as it is during the core race customization passes).
One thing Blizzard can do to address these issues is add some Nightborne face options that look more like the NPC's, some additional skin and hair colors, and possibly share some hairstyles from other races with them. Another thing Blizzard can do is to give Blood Elves the Dark Ranger/San'layn skin and eye options that are currently available to NPC's. This is a popular request and would give Blood Elves a "second theme" which seems to be a point of contention with Void Elves getting the Blood Elf skin tones. Proliferating Void Elf hairstyles to Blood Elves with the tentacles removed would also probably assuage some of the negativity some Blood Elf players seem to be feeling over sharing their skin tones with Void Elves.
All in all, Blizzard has a lot of stuff going on that has to be handled for Shadowlands launch. Things will be added when they are added, and I wouldn't ascribe to spite, that which is most likely just down to meeting deadlines.

Because Allied Races aren't getting anything new? Except for some eye colors on Zandalari, pretty much every option is reused assets or separated options.

Yess, let the tentacle/braid movement grow ever stronger!! Maybe we'll get it on 9.2 lol (if we are optimist)

Not really, because it never made it to release and it was only alpha/beta stuff.
Still, it's shocking that we have the basis for half elves for like 2 decades and nothing as truly been done with them as a people. I'm still hoping that it's revealed that most of the Silver Covenant is half elven.
Pretty much, I think it was announced ahead of time to assuade all the discussion surrounding wanting High Elves.
I mean, literally, people were asking for it for over a decade. So they must've finally seen that ok nothing short of getting human skin tones will work so once it was decided to be the case they'd get the same skin tones, then people can now put the matter of 'will they add High Elves' to rest and move the discussion toward 'what would you like to see for customization options'.
That happens to be much less vitriolic because the biggest hump has already been gotten over.
And yeah, ARs shouldn't be getting much at all, if anything, at Shadowlands launch. Blizzard already said they'll get their proper turn during Shadowlands but not at launch.
So High Elf fans got a lucky insight into their future and when proper Allied Race customization happens then I'm sure it will be much more.
This post really shows how diverse the character customization is getting in Shadowlands, and I can see why some players of certain races like Blood Elves can be miffed by their options.

"Even using the 'Randomize' button on Wowhead's Dressing Room JUST a couple times shows how much variety Shadowlands will bring, when compared to the current options."
it wouldn't be far fetched if the basis of the post-Second War schism would be the anti-separationists having Human relationships or are mixed races with Humans or even Dwarves, then you have that scrapped hero and then the fact that most members of the Silver Covenant were former Farstriders

I'd say it's a different model actually, Sylvanas didn't have tattoos for some reason and she wore pants
