Their ideology is just 'we dont want to use fel magic.' This is the current ideology of the majority of the blood elves as well.

It might have escaped people's notice, but race is not a wholly biological phenomenon. See: Almost all of Human history.

Alliance already did, they're called Void Elves.

I still think his reasoning is bullshit, though. It's been countered plenty of times, but they keep going on with the same thing over and over.

Not only that, but it'd be incredibly easy to write in another High Elven enclave if that were the issue. It's Ion's perception of faction identity, it seems. Something that isn't factual, but opinionated.

People have different opinions, and his opinion is that factions shouldn't have similar races. It's his chosen design direction, and I wish he would have made that clearer, because most of his reasoning other than the faction identity thing was objectively false.

The decision is in his hands, evidently, and that's just his design philosophy, which is acceptable, but could change someday should Ion move on from the WoW team.

But if he is REALLY in charge right now then even his own decisions contradict it(see full armor ve being indistuinishable fromna HE same for VE)

Void Elves are basically High Elves. They have a slightly different backstory but if you want a tall, blonde hair elf, that's a Blood Elf. We just met Alleria and got the backstory of the Void Elf and they wanted to add a race that looked a little like the Blood Elf and Void Elves fit -- eye color isn't the same, maybe contact lens in the future.

Asking people to behave rationally or politely online, especially on this forum with this subject, is asking for a miracle. Besides, it's fun to watch and gives you an idea of who to never take seriously again.

It is a simplistic fallacy to assume Ion is the sole person behind this or making this choice. It gives you the false hope that if this one person is removed, then suddenly what is currently impossible will become possible again.

It is more realistic to assume that the decision was a collective one by the relevant design teams, and that when Ion moves on the rationales that have now ruled out Alliance High Elves will persist.

Namely, the faction wall that is at the heart of the game.

Void Elves are a form of magic corrupt elves, so it's most likely that they will be able to make more through some process or ritual going forward. Essentially as I've been saying VE's population = HE's + BE's populations. Or in the least those they can tempt over.

No i get THAT but in 1 year? Almost no way they can get THAT many converts and if mostly pulling from say HE then again population issue(accordion to Ion)

uh no. many people would've been fine with even void elves getting light skin and blonde hair.

Face it. I know it, you know, Ion knows it. Most of the High Elf garbage was just about getting fair elves on the Alliance.

You know I was never keen on the Alliance getting the thalassian model, and I'm still not, but I can accept it as part of the compromise it was intended to be. A Void Elf is thematically and somewhat physically different from a Blood Elf, with a unique story to be had.

Doffen if this is your choice for the years ahead, I hope you'll enjoy it. I will see you on the battlefield.

ideology is a non visual thing, you can just say your void elf is a silver covenant elf, or any high elf human boot licker
