The whole crusade against High Elves being playable is disgusting. I play Horde so it doesn't effect me much, but the amount of salt and hate against people who just want their favorite race added (which makes sense as an Allied Race over a regular added race IMO). It's disturbing.
Players have wanted them for years and now suddenly there's a big salty crusade against them.
Just like when a lot of people made a fuss about "Kung Fu" Pandas being added, I hope High Elves are added just in spite of how hateful the Anti-High Elf crowd is.
I don't want to delete void elves. I really prefer them over Silver Covenant traitors. I also love blood elves. I just support adding new races to this game, because when I will want something, somebody will support me. Personally, I am with Horde and true Quelthalas. And as for the civil war angle I see some pro High Elfers pushing, sorry, the Void Elves have gotten that covered and they are a far, far more worthy target of Blood Elf ire and animosity than the High Elf leftovers. Just ask @Ren-dorei. Does he deserve to have HIS actually playable race pushed out of the spotlight for a weak Blood Elf clone?
That his very thoughtful of you. Obviously, I wouldn't want that. And you can be certain that High Elves would not only shatter the Void Elves' number of players, but would also steal their spotlight from a story standpoint.Just ask @Ren-dorei. Does he deserve to have HIS actually playable race pushed out of the spotlight for a weak Blood Elf clone?
Also, can we stop using the term 'High Elves'? High Elves are already playable on both factions! Use the terms 'Silver Covenant Elves' or 'Highvale Elves', because this is what these fanboys are asking for.
I was actually fond of these Highvale/Silver Covenant Elves once, but these fanboys. They just take away all the fun with their insolence and arrogance. Get off your high horses, Highvale/Silver Covenant fans, you are not more knowledgeable of the lore than the people who literally wrote it.
Where's the anti-high elf manifesto?
Where's the anti-high elf social media platforms? Discord? Facebook?
Where are any anti-high elves endangering their health and education over this?
Where are the anti-high elves calling for Blizzard employees to be fired?
Where are the anti-high elves calling for Blizzard employees to be tortured?
Where are the anti-high elves calling for Blizzard employees to kill themselves?
Because pro-high elves can lay claim to all of that, and worse.
I wonder how a lot of horde players would react if Ion claimed Kul'Tirans were the compromise for Ogres? I imagine the anti helf people would change their tunes VERY quickly. "If you want playable Ogres, the Alliance is there waiting for you."
Sure, it's a stretch as the comparison is nowhere near as tight as high elves, but still, use some creativity. Humour the 'what if'.
TEA IS DOWN!
Sylvanas is what you get when you cross Joffrey Baratheon with a mary sue. Change my mind. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They've messed up terribly. The whole void thing was a great chance to bring another original class that would use void as their resource. Instead, they chose to use it to alter and tweak the existing blood elf model in a way that would feel more distinct from the original so that they could use it and give it to the Alliance players and say 'here are the high elves that don't look the same as the blood elves'.
I don't think the void elves are a good or adequate replacement for the high elves by any means. To bring them as a race was a very poor and sad decision considering that they were probably made up in like 5 seconds.

No. The idea of Blood Elves messing with the Void is a very old one dating back to Tempest Keep, where High Astromancer Solarian could turn into a Voidwalker. It is a concept, the one of Void-infused Blood Elves, that Blizzard had desired to explore for years. In addition, a Void Elf, Alleria Windrunner, was the protagonist of Mac'aree, a Legion zone introduced months before the actual reveal of Void Elves as a playable race, so they didn't come out of the blue, and the writers most certainly did not come up with this concept at the last minute. To bring them as a race was a very poor and sad decision considering that they were probably made up in like 5 seconds.
Unlike Gnomes, who had NO MENTION WHATSOEVER in the Warcraft RTS games, and were invented just because the Alliance lacked a 4th playable race back in Classic.
I would laugh if Blizzard decides to give Blood elves blue eyes character option. I bet the shitstorm about high elves would be never ending.
