You seem to be ignoring that they explicitly ruled out High Elves.

Saying the Allied race system is brand new and so High Elves still has a chance is not a great statement when Blizzard went out of their way to NOT use that system for High Elves. After all they created Void Elves as an allied race as a compromise they appear to be very satisfied with.

Thank you! It did get downvoted a lot first (which was the expected reaction) but I'm glad it turned around! I hope I managed to make at least a few people more open to the idea of high elves as a playable race.

I find it funny too that some of the reddit peeps are saying your designs should go to Blood Elves. That's an OMEGALUL if I've ever seen one Funny that even after Ion described Blood Elves as "Majestic" there are those that wish for the "Wild Elf feathers and warpaint" look for their Blood Elves. I guess those people also need realizing what Blood Elves portray, which are royalty, bourgeoisie lifestyle. They'd more readily call those High Elves, barbaric than share in their similarities.

And as the developers are showing us, they want specific themes and aesthetics to be shown visually for their playable races. Having "Wild" Blood Elves runs in counter to the already established "prim and proper" Blood Elf aesthetic.

For instance all the Orc Clans still share the main Orc aesthetics visually: tribal, savage, honor-bound. So of course they can be a mix of clans.

You still seem to think that my enjoyment of WoW relies solely on having playable High Elves. It doesn't. I've said it many times, I'll continue enjoying the game as long as it's fun to me. I've also said people shouldn't be playing the game waiting for a certain future feature to release and instead play if they enjoy the game as it is now, currently.

But yeah, keep misunderstanding me it's really funny to see, everytime.

I mean, to be fair, he didn't. He gave pretty much the same non-committal line they usually use when a player asks for something that isn't directly in the pipeline, "no current plans" and the sort. Which is the same answer they'd give about Demon Hunters, or a melee hunter spec, or players getting Ashbringer, or any other number of things that might not be a thing at the time.

Sure it's highly unlikely, but if enough people clamor for it for long enough... it wouldn't surprise me to see them try and appease people to make them happy.

I'd like to see void elves developed if nothing else, which hopefully isn't too far off to hope for.

Saying anything can change in the future is a platitude. It is an almost meaningless statement that they can use when they deliver bad news to anyone and it is not so much to give the person receiving the bad news hope as to cover their own asses should, at some point in the future following an unimaginable change in circumstances, decide to do this.

Remove it, and the meaning stays as he avoided definite terms in his quote.

At the moment they don't want to do this for reasons of gameplay, for reasons of lore, for reasons of faction distinctiveness. And just because YOU have decided that faction identity doesn't matter, an odd statement given how we are about to embark on the biggest war between the factions yet seen and the forums are filled with invective between the Alliance and Horde, does not mean that your singular opinion, the opinion of a fan with an agenda, needs to be accommodated.

War doesn't mean there is identity. And there are a lot of people wondering why they are a forcing a war that seems out of place given point in the story. We spent the last expansion working together.

After all, the faction divide is the greatest and almost certainly insuperable obstacle to playable Alliance High Elves. Your agenda demands that the faction wall, the very foundation of the game's world and lore, be denigrated and dimissed as much as possible.

To me, Shaman/Paladin going to the opposing faction, Pandaren and now the Elf swap has already degraded that wall to the point to allow it. What's funny is your side seems to think the only support is Pandaren and dismiss all the other crap that blurred the line.

Thankfully the developers disagree with this. The developers rightly prize the division between the factions and they are doing the utmost to ensure that the Alliance and Horde remain visually and thematically distinct. Where models have crossed that wall, such as the Nightborne and Void Elves, those groups have been been given distinct physical skins and, far more importantly, themes as far from their parents as it possible to go.
Who could ever confuse the urbane and magical Nightborne with the Druidic and arboreal Night Elves? Nobody save those few engaged in reductio ad absurdum, determined to pretend a Nightborne and a Night Elf are as close as a Blood Elf and an Alliance High Elf and thereby justify the later as a playable race.

That's your view, not reality. Void Elves are culturally not hugely different from Blood Elves. Yes, Nightborne ARE significantly different than Night Elves true ... but that doesn't hold true for Void Elf ... it is like saying that Blood Elf Death Knights are a different race to me.

I always take any statement made by a Dev with a grain of salt. Over the years they have sad no to many things that exist or existed in WoW. They change their minds or find a way to make something work. That's not to say that High Elves will happen for the Alliance but that something has to change for that to be possible. Now what I find interesting is that people here are pushing toward a more Wild or Wood Elf niche for Alliance aligned High Elves. Night Elves should fill that niche but they kinda don't rather they are more akin to hippy Blood Elves.

I don't give a damn either way if they choose to add high elves or not, but his response was the same corporate "not now, maybe later" it's always been, and probably always will be. Doesn't mean it can't or won't ever happen, if there's ever a time or place for it. They left the opening, that's all I was saying.

"Go play Horde" is absolutely right, because it's the only option for fair-skinned elves and will be for the foreseeable future. Blood elves lost the things that made them particularly different by the end of TBC, so the high elf fans that claim to refuse them on the grounds of morality are just ignorant of their current situation.

Blood elves are the one and only true legacy of Quel'thalas, but these requests will never go away so long as high elves are so present in Alliance stories. The Silver Covenant was a mistake if they were ever seriously trying to sell the idea that they're too few or irrelevant to become a playable Alliance race.

Just time will put everything in it's place, nobody believed HE would be added like in the next patch you know? And while they do not plan nothing with HE for B4A, we should ask again in middle expansion when is where things got carried forward and more decisions are made, now we are just discussing about the points and how they would look and all those things, but the final decision is not going to come anytime soon, being it a yes or a no.

Just share your ideas, share some people's artwork, discuss points, and enjoy talking about what you like until you want, the end of this kind of threads is far from getting reached.
