What's funny is real faction pride would show by having High Elves available on Alliance and then seeing how many would stay Blood Elf (because then it really would be about picking the faction and decoupling races from the equation) but of course we all know the answer to how that'd play out.

Only difference is Blood Elves have been playable since TBC. So, same could be said to you also for asking for "High Elves". Get over yourself.

Blood Elves had blue eyes, because they were High elves and still are other than the fact they changed their name because of the fallen after Arthas. They didn't change their name because of fel taint from the crystals in Silvermoon. If anything with the trend of adding races that are just extra customization options like Tauren <--> Highmoutain, Blood Elves should get blue eyes or an allied race of High Elves with blue eyes coming back to Silvermoon.

Lore. Something that can have additional stuff added to it. Like, I dunno. Blood Elves with their restored Sunwell of Holy/Arcane being redeemed with Golden/Blue eyes.

It's called progression to a story. I would love to see more story for all existing races that are playable.

Of all the things wrong with your rant, this is one of the most hilarious parts right next to trying to claim the blood elves fed off of fel. The sunwell is a font of both arcane and holy energy now, not just light.

Funny how people are willing to butcher lore just to justify their high elf dream.

High elves are blood elves, you're not getting a race, nor can you somehow magically turn the faction boundaries" argument to your favor.

"The Sunwell is a fount of mystical power located on the Isle of Quel'Danas. While its waters, holy to the high elves,[1] were originally pure arcane power,[2][3] it has since been restored as a fount of both arcane and Light energy."

The Sunwell is now a mixture of both holy and arcane energies. If you're going to get this involved in a discussion and flame anyone who disagrees with you as a fanboy, you could at least do us the courtesy of reading the first sentence of the Sunwell's lore. Or heck, high/blood elf lore in general, your rant above was so factually incorrect and faulty I don't even know where to begin with it.

Your transparent insistence that blue eye customization would somehow "hurt blood elf identity" is downright laughable tho. Be honest, you're just scared to death of blood elves getting blue eyes because you feel, probably rightly, that it would be yet another nail in the high elf coffin.

Ion already said that blue eyes for blood elves is a possibility for the future however, so I guess you'll have to deal with that when it comes.

So which in terms means the Blood Elves abandon Quel'dorei Legacy and now with upcoming Expansion they would probably repeat the tragic mistakes of their past because they are so far down the line of ignorance.

You are presented with evidence showing your stance is wrong and you still insist on clinging to your headcanon. I'm not really surprised.

Why wouldn't I be a blood elf with blue eyes? The only reason they named themselves "Blood Elves" is because Arthas killed 90% of them and they were honoring their fallen. They had blue eyes at that time too. It was before Outland and needing to use other means for magic addiction.

What's your obsession with Warcraft 2? It's a meh-tier RTS game with a meh afterthought story made well before you were even born.

Warcraft 3 blew it out of the water and it's that game that is the basis for modern warcraft.

You're aware that "sin'dorei" is simply a name the high elves of Quel'Thalas embraced to honor their fallen high elf brethren, right? It has nothing to do with what particular type of magic they happen to be taking in, be it arcane, or holy light, or fel, or void. Blood elves would not stop being blood elves because a few new eye colors were added to the barber, as is already happening. This is a ridiculous statement. The only way they'd stop being blood elves is if they stopped calling themselves blood elves, because that's all a blood elf is, a high elf who took a new name to honor their dead countrymen.

What about this confuses you so much?

I preferred Command and Conquer myself. Kane was just such a charismatic lead...

Another sad victim of EA's machine.

Warcraft 2 was still a great game, a bit simplistic but still tons of fun. Warcraft 3 was brilliant though.

What's with all this focus on blood elves and blue eyes as if denying it to them will somehow enhance chances of playable high elves lol. Eye color is likely insignificant next to the abundance of other places where overlapping would occur.

Heck people you go after so call Pro High Elf Players when they go to another option like different model like Night Elf you guys reject and tell them to go screw off some where. Great story so far from Void Elves that doesn't make me want to cringe at them.

You know I wouldn't be like this if Warcraft 2 High Elves were playable or Void Elves would have gotten a High Elf story to support the Void Elves being playable. Because only selling point that BFA will do is pleasing the Horde fanboys and forgetting the Alliance players in general which that means. No Good Request that were promise to players = no money = bye bye subs.

BFA has already got two asspulls already. One of them is Void Elves and other is making Light evil and making Draenei from AU Draenor Evil as well. At this rate BFA will fail and I'll know and remember who's fault would that be.

Go ahead keep harassing High Elf Players, Alliance Players, or any other players that doesn't fit with your Elven Horde Fantasy. Because all I'm seeing is just a big cyber bully being a entitled manchild.

So I made this wonderful post on the Golden Eye/Blue Holy/Arcane Sunwell topic for Blood Elves and it got ignored by the anti-helfers. Reposting it again since the conversation of Blue Eyes and Holy/Arcane Sunwell came up:

I want to chime in on the Gold Eye BE topic too. Blizzard has admitted that going forward, you will see BE Paladins and Priests having the Gold Eyes, all other NPC BEs are still going to have the Fel Green.

They just also made it available to all Players, whether the player wants to put it on a BE Warlock is up to them for instance.

But Blizzard themselves are actually only giving the eyes to Paladins and Priests to show the forward progression from the Sunwell story. Doesn't mean every BE can now have Gold Eyes, playable ones can because it's more a gameplay choice to allow all types of BEs to have it (imagine the shit show if only Paladin and Priest BEs could access it?) but NPC ones it's dedicated to those closest to the Light.

Why won't they add Blue Eyes to BEs? Simple, another gameplay reason, to differentiate from High Elves - whether on Alliance or neutral. As you can see with the BE mouth fixes, if Blue Eyes were on the table for BEs it would've happened at the same time as the Gold Eyes.

Also just because the Sunwell is made of Holy Light and arcane, doesn't mean for instance the Holy Light can't overpower the arcane portion of it. Here is proof:

    Nightborne Allied Race Unlock Scenario:

    Time: 9:13

Thalyssra: The sense of power is palpable. As potent as the Nightwell, but of a different nature.

Liadrin: The Sunwell was corrupted by our enemies, but a naaru's sacrifice purified its waters. Now the essence of the Light sustains us.
I mean be as biased as you want, but clearly the game, developers, and lore are showing that the Holy Light portion of the Sunwell is more overriding than the arcane, even if both are still present.

It's also why in the Chronicles Vol 3 passage about the renewed Sunwell, it says it's a mixture of the Holy Light and arcane. Notice how it gives a proper noun to the light portion? This is to emphasize the power of that specific magic.

    https://wow.gamepedia.com/Light

    https://wow.gamepedia.com/Arcane

Arcane magic is just the lifeblood of Azeroth:
Volatile arcane energies is described as the lifeblood of the nascent titan of Azeroth.[14]
Wheres the Holy Light is actually some big dick level of magic:
The Light (also known as the Holy Light,[1][2][3] Holy Light of Creation[4] and light of Creation[5]) is an endless, shimmering sea of energy situated outside the barriers of reality and one of the two most fundamental forces in the world of Warcraft along with the Void, which was born from the absence of the former.

Pure Light cannot exist within the physical universe but shades of it manifest as holy magic.[6]

The naaru, enigmatic beings composed of shards of fractured Light, may be the purest expression of the Light in the physical universe. They taught the use of the Light to the draenei and other enlightened races, but others have come into the study and practice of Light-based magic of their own accord.[10]
So there we have it, and this falls in line with how Blizzard is treating it and how the Sunwell is being portrayed in lore. I've never seen anywhere that says the Sunwell is 50/50 arcane/Holy just that it's a mixture or contains both.

The prophet Velen sanctified the legendary Sunwell using the power of the Light, reigniting it as a fount of both arcane power and Holy Light.[44]
But a mixture doesn't automatically mean 50/50 and as I said all precedence the developers are setting is that Holy Light in the Sunwell is overpowering the arcane, even if it's still there.

I think you're grasping quite a bit. I doubt Ion would have so casually put blue eyes for blood elves on the table if there was this unseen concerted dev effort to make sure it never happens. Especially now that they've emphatically said no to high elves, who even now use a kind of buggy eye glow with green energy buzzing around their heads. I mean, not to give you war flashbacks, but, "if you want to be a fair-skinned, light-haired, blue-eyed elf..."

But really, it's up in the air. We have no idea what the new Sunwell's exact properties are beyond very vague statements that suggest equal showing between Light and arcane. We can assume that a mage, for instance, would draw heavily from the arcane but lightly, if at all, from the Light. For all we know, that constant ocean of arcane magic could easily be enough to wash out the residual fel, which most BEs were only very lightly touched with anyway just from living around the crystals.
