Priest : Priests were among the most devoted Alliance supporter back in Warcraft III so it's obvious that High Elves should have them

Rogue : High Elves are few, and their organizations have need of such individuals, both to sabotage their foes and spy on them easily

Hunter : Vereesa is a former Farstrider and the Silver Covenant plus the Quel'Danil Lodge are very hunter oriented - the SC even lent troops to Trueshot Lodge

Paladin : I know, I know it's cliché as fuck, but well, it works, we all know it. PLus, the Alliance is seriously lagging behind the Horde in terme of races who can be the faction's former iconic class (being Shaman for Horde)

Druid : I think that they should take some knowledge from the Night Elves, Gilneans and Kul tirans here.

Shaman : Wildhammers are the second shamanistic ethnic group of the Alliance after the Draenei so considering that both the dwarves and the Exiled Ones live in Quel'Danil, it's obvious to me that High Elves should have access to this class.
I think paladin can be done for high elves, as we do have "high elves shieldbearers" in the Paladin Order Hall, but I think it's not really required.

However... I think druid and shaman are a bit of a stretch, as the race itself never had any real connections to nature in the way that is required for druidism, and the same thing goes for shamanism.

Obviously, death knight should be an allowed class, even using the default starting zone, and yes, they should be mages as well, considering the amount of high elf magisters we see.

It's not that "it just works", High Elves and Dwarves are both part of the Church of the Holy Light before the First War and given that some Dwarves became Paladins, why not? If the High Elves had Priests and Swordsmen, what's stopping them to mix them to be Paladins?
The Alliance gets the Horde's most popular race. The Horde should get the Alliance's most popular race in return. Alteraci Humans for the Horde!

    I totally forgot Death Knights...

But I'm really against mages being playable for Hight Elves. Now that Night Elves have relaxed, it should be High Elves taking the torch for non-mages allowed. The creation of the Void Elves should, ironically, exacerbate it. I mean, in recent years, they have fought bitterly with their former brethren, who relishes in their use and abuse of the Arcane, then the Nightborne who are worse, and then discovered that some of the Blood Elves are so enamored with dangerous powers that they became Void Tainted in its pursuit.

It'd also help to thematically distinguish between Void and High Elves.

I think this doesn't need further responses for the same person, since it was answered countless times to the same individual, I would reserve that energy for someone else saying something like that, since it would be another, different source of disinformation.

I mean, it has been clear some people will never rectify regardless what factual information is provided, so yeah. Be cool

Because otherwise it would blurr the faction line
Thing is, you don't know that for an absolute fact. After all, they found new hairstyles for humans in last night's build, who is to say what is coming in later builds?

That, and we don't know for a fact that this dataminer is in fact correct. Wowhead after all datamined the blue eyed options as well, but only this person has decided that what was there previously was in fact an error. We have no idea about their own biases or whether they have interpreted the data incorrectly. After all, this is an alpha build, everything found does come with a caveat.

As for 'blue eyes bluring the faction lines', between Blood Elves and the Exiles they don't, as they are the same race. If Blizzard wants to keep blue eyes unique for the sake of Void Elves however that might be more understandable.

And of course, if they consider something as small as blue eyes needs to be kept unique for Void Elves to increase differentiation, then good luck with the expectation of high elf like skin tones.

Blue eyes (for Blood Elves) should go to the Horde. And they still stand a very good chance of going to the Horde. And if they don't go to the Horde, what they also aren't going to are alliance high elves.

It really doesn't make sense for the race who's major reason for even being in the Alliance in the first place was their magic and magic teachings, to not have mages.

Any class a Void Elf or Blood Elf can be, a High Elf should be able to be as well. It wouldn't really make much lore sense otherwise.

My god, I come back at the right time here, only good news.

It's still an alpha, but it's on the right track.
I'm glad Blizzard made the right choice, while respecting the factions, finally !

I think it'd be a tough thing to sell, considering that we do have many high elf magisters around in the game. High elves haven't shunned the use of magic. That's the same thing as saying that high elves shouldn't be paladins, despite we having high elf shieldbearers for the paladins.

This single line of yours completely destroys all of your "faction identity/faction lines" arguments, I hope you understand that.

The existence of void elves already did a long time ago. Now the only question is if they'll cave on colors. Blizzard already gave the model away. So now the alliance have blue eyed, blue skinned blood elves.

Only if you accept your flawed premise that a nearly dead bunch of refugees who didn't do squat in the fourth war constitute a major part of the Alliance.

I want you to know I checked. They still aren't playable. As such blue eyes remain what they always were, an eye colour, which should to Blood Elves because more options is good.

If they end up using the blue eye colour to differentiate Void Elves from Blood Elves, how likely do you think it is they'll cave on the far more profound skin tone differences?

They won't. And blood elf players will never get that option. I would be open to the factions having both options though. Personally I believe the faction identity argument to be stupid. But if you want to adhere to it, there you go.

Last time I checked a High elf saved Anduin's life in Lordaeron.
One brought her high elven glaives in Durotar.
Another was making portal so the Alliance can conquer the kingdom of Stromgarde. And it did.

Lor'Themar for example, didn't bother bringing his own troops during the battle of Lordaeron, the battle for Zul'Dazar and even the Siege of Orgrimmar 2.0 making him useless, as usual.

Yeah. And that's a really good thing for both high elf fans and the sanity of this thread.

Well damn someone (not you) has got some venomous words against High Elves, never seen a fictional race affect someone so deeply, wonder what caused it.

Also it's pretty much confirmed at the very least that Void Elves will be getting those blue options we see. So now the landscape is looking like

    1) Blue Eyed Thalassians will be on Alliance, it's just a question of whether some sort of fair skin options will follow. A question that likely won't be answered until we get to Allied Race customizations and who knows how long till that happens.

    2) Ball's in Blood Elven court whether they get Blue Eyes or not.

What it tells us is that it's going to be a case of either blue eyes thalassians stay as an Alliance identity, or blue eyes thalassians becomes available as player options to both sides.

It clearly steers us away from "If you want to play blue-eyed Thalassians your only option is play to Horde" . As that's the case some dissenters were making it seem like (what with pokes at BE DK character customization and what not).

We also gotta remember that keyboardturner also data-mined purple/red/orange eyes as well as those blue eyes among, presumably at the time, Blood Elves in the earlier build.

What changed in this new build? Well looks like they distinguished and polished up the eye colors. And so far it appear only gold/green/teal went to Blood Elves and all those blue options to Void Elves.

Wonder what happened to the red/purple/orange options? Will those come to pass?

I guess they belong to the Ma'ghar orcs actually (speaking of the red and orange options)

not the crazy looking eyes that are obviously mag'har. There were ones similar to other blood elf designs (guess we should say Thalassian now cuz they seem to share filenames )
