The same applies to Blood Elves no? And if Blood Elves are High Elves then are not Void Elves also High Elves? The game will always address both as Blood Elf or Void Elf but both have their roots in the Quel'dorei. All this new announcement does is allow Void Elves to more closely resemble their Quel'dorei roots much like the addition of blue eyes will allow Blood Elves to do so as well.

All in all I think these options make it very unlikely for an allied race specifically named "High Elf" to happen, but I also think those looking for playable Alliance High Elves will largely find what they are looking for in Void Elves with these customization options, especially if Blizzard does add some in-game lore that explains the why and how of Alliance High Elves joining the ranks of the Ren'dorei. That could go a long way to smoothing out the lore inconsistencies that such options are bound to raise.

I don't feel that the Paladin class being available makes or breaks what is or isn't a High Elf... and as Ion has said before "anything is possible". Void Elf paladins could be a thing someday.

Yup, same applies! I also agree Paladin/no Paladin doesn't make or break. Nor racials. It's the looks that are most important here, being able to fully be a High Elf archer/mage/priest on Alliance has made many WC2 fans happy from what I've seen.

Pallies are just like a cherry on top, and yeah someday could be a thing.

Wait till that Blue hair is Belf only. This is a blizzard post, no reason why they would include DK only options in it. Might as well throw in some DH.

So everyone's pretty happy with these options, right? It seems like it solves almost everything, except that one hypothetical person who wants to play an Alliance High Elf Paladin.

Two groups seem unhappy with this.

The people that wanted High Elves as their own full race with a starter zone and Paladins, which was unrealistic to begin with.

and

The people on either side of the fence that are addicted to the rush of waging a war against the other faction and are more interested in scoring points against the other faction and spiting them than actually coming to an agreement.

I think so! and it's great there were some NPCs with blue hair color if I remember correctly too

So now I wonder.. will Kalecgos be a Blood Elf with blue hair and short ears or a human with one of those new hairstyles and blue eyes?

I agree it is time to close this! Congratulations to everyone who wanted new customizations in the void elves and blood elves! as always I say more customizations is always good!

I am happy that blood elf keep that trait.. so atleast they have something unique, they already stripped them from their edgy blood knight vibe which I hated.

Nope, I just checked. The new colors in Shadowlands are jet black, black and dark brown.

Blood elf DKs have that one (dark blue), a light blue and the BEST silver hair for elves. All those should be enabled for all classes, IMO. I'm hoping it comes true.

I am happy with this! TBH I doubted they would ever be a full AR after they drained their load on Void Elves.

Yawppp. Time to start picking a name/class combos for my High Elves. Can't wait for Wowhead dressing room to include the options so we can get to customizing them.

I really hope they open the colors for everyone, I've wanted that for many races for a long time. I love the Human DK dark blue, the blood elf DK light and dark blues, the night elf DK pink and red hair, and many others. So, I'm crossing fingers that this is not just a designer mistake.

It is logical to assume that having conceded on blue eyes and normal skin tones, they will look to every other potential way of differentiating Blood Elves and Void Elves from each other. They conceded the skin tones, but not the hair colours it seems.

What will be interesting to see is how this plays out as further customisations are added. If skin tone is not going to be a differentiator, then what will take it's place? After all, Void Elves now have access to every single blood elf tone yet have six unique tones of their own with the potential for more to be added.

As for the blue hair it was used by Frostfencer Seraphi. He is a standard high elf. Blood Elves and high elves remain biologically identical. So it is plausible light blue hair becomes a Blood Elf option, and if it does we will surely know very shortly.

Many of the happy people were disguised as the former of those. Now is when their feathers are revealed. Until they realize what race they're actually playing.

The DK hair colors have been used by NPCs everywhere. High elves were often portrayed with the 3 DK hair colors since WotLK. Yes, it should be open to every class in almost all races. There's a lot of very cool DK-only hair colors that would look good on living characters.

My need for high elves went when void elves came. But i had started suspecting that high elf skin tones wouldn't make any difference to numbers of players switching, because form a model point of view it's pretty much the same thing, and you can only play one character at a time.

I have many void elves, and blood elves, and I was never going to specifically role a toon as a high elf if that became playable with the same model, no point, i can do that as a blood elf on the horde, and on the alliance void elf was cool and enough, perhpas when I roll a new toon I would consider a high elf.
