    Hello guys, i'm getting back into gaming, and i'm looking to upgrade my computer so that i will actually be able to play

    @livingdb

    This is a build I recommended to someone else, the i3 will be much, MUCH better than the i5 (since i3 is 4GHz)

    with 8th gen (or was it with ddr4?) the dual channel has like, no difference in fps anymore

    Edit: it seems a 200gb+ SSD is as cheap as 50$ these days, though I have no idea about how long it will last (quality wise)

    Actually thats incorrect, i5 8400 boosts to 4.0ghz, base clock means nothing (the 2.8ghz number listed). 8400 is a much better and more future proof CPU, that said if you overclock the 8350k it will be faster in WoW.

    As Fascinate added above, go for the 8400 mostly for the future proofing of the 6 cores, it turbo's to 3.8Ghz 24/7 pretty much, the 4.0Ghz is for 1 core which never really happens ;p either way.

    I would highly suggest going for 1x8GB DDR4@3.0Ghz or 3.2Ghz and add a second 1x8Gb in the future instead of 2x4@2.4Ghz, newer CPUS really like their faster RAM, especially in older games.

    Or if you can push the money now, go for 1x16GB@3.2Ghz, generally 3.0 or 3.2Ghz in either case.

    (Supposedly 14-15 CAS and not 16 but it pushes the budget too high).

    Secondly despite Corsair changing a few things and the CXM arent as bad they still carry a bad reputation, i would go for a more trustworthy PSU, Superflower/Seasonic/XFX/EVGA (Check which ones are the seasonic supplier basically).

    unlocked i3 (which is 4cores now with no HT) is more 'future proof' than a locked 6core i5, which needs turbo boost to get to 4ghz, which all core will never hit, while i3 is base 4ghz which all cores will work on, at the very least

    You seem a bit confused, if you are only playing WoW on your PC the 8350k is a better choice, if you do literally anything else the 8400 is a much better cpu for the money. Go try and run games on a celeron dual core without hyperthreading, many of them wont even load. Cores are much more important than clockspeed for most games on the market, MMO's are the odd bird in this conversation.

    If you get a Z370 board with Multi Core Enhancement it will hit 4.0GHz on all cores at all time

    No pansertjald.. it will not actually.
    You can input the settings but the chip will ignore it and run it's rated specs.

    I thought that MCE allso worked on non K models. Well i learn something new then. But i can see that it will hit 3.8GHz on all cores with MCE on, so thats not bad for a non K

    3,8GHz is the base 6-core all turbo provided it has the temperature and power allowance, regardless of MCE.
    Some people report 3,9GHz but that's because of core task switching, it's not actually holding 3,9GHz.

    It's not a bad CPU but Intel isn't stupid, they won't allow OCing when it's not allowed.
