    Rift 4.4 - Hotfixes

This is going to get confusing, two separate Patch notes for both Live and Prime but at least they overlap, sort of, time to try and make sense of them, here's hotfix #1

    Live Notes:

    RIFT 4.4: Hotfix #1 3/14/2018

    == LIVE SERVER NOTES ==

    SOULS

    CLERIC

    PRESETS

    * Fixed the Benefactor preset by removing Shaman and Inquisitor abilities from the preset ability bar.

    ROGUE

    PRESETS

    * Fixed the missing melee weapons for new characters choosing the Virtuoso preset.

    WARRIOR

    BEASTMASTER

    * The ability names for Beastmaster summoning have been changed.

CaptainCursor has a story to tell about this...

Nyol the Beastmaster looked upon the warriors of Telara and despaired. Why have so few of the warriors of Telara followed in his path? He sought out his spirit companion in the Realm of the Fae. “Naveer, my faithful companion, you have journeyed with many a beastmaster, you might know their mindset even better than I. Why are there so few of them in the world?”

Naveer stretched and yawned, his saber like teeth flashing white in the bright faetouched sunlight. “It’s because I don’t do much to help them.” The great cat dropped this brutally honest truth on the great soul, and went back to sleep.

“What do you mean you don’t do anything? I remember adventuring with you, you would bite and swipe with your great claws!” Nyol replied, shocked at his former companion.

“Did I tank for you?” Asked the cat pointedly.

“No. I seem to remember doing all that work.”

“Well there you go. I didn’t want to muss up my fur. So I let the monsters hit the warriors. Better they die then I look less than fabulous.” Naveer then fell back asleep.

Nyol fumed as only elves can, his ears turning a bright shade of red in his anger. He went to the nearby stream and grabbed a bucket full of water and ran back to the great sabretooth cat and splashed him while hissing in a bestial manner. Naveer meowed in surprise and shock and jumped up into the nearby tree as Nyol shouted as his former companion. “You WILL help out these great warriors in the mortal realm! Are you saying that a pile of rocks or a pig are more fearsome than you, the great primal cat? Now when you bite a foe, or swipe them you will draw the attention of the monstrous opponents lest my great martial tradition fade from Telara!”

“Fine!” cried Naveer, clearly freaked out, “Just stop throwing water on me. I hate that.” And with a burst of lightning he jumped into the mortal realm and mauled a goblin.

Beastmasters pets have been renamed and given new icons. Now the primal companions have been renamed to “Primal Sabretooth” and the Vicious Companions have been renamed “Vicious Wyvern”. A Primal Sabretooth will do increased threat with its Bite and Claw Swipe abilities. The Claw Swipe will now also include a taunt. The Lesser Primal Companion has been given the Claw Swipe ability as well as the Pounce that were once found only on the Greater Cat. From now on the Sabretooth will be a tank pet, and Beastmaster in dungeons and raids are advised to use their Vicious Wyvern whose abilities are unaffected and should not draw agro.

    DUNGEONS & RAIDS

    * Increased the drop rate for equipment in normal dungeons and allowed for more free loot rolls for bosses in normal dungeons.

    GREENSCALE'S BLIGHT

    * Removed mana drain abilities from the raid.

    TEMPLE OF ANANKE

    * Players should no longer be able to pull Lord Draveneaux out of the fight space.

    ZONES & EVENTS

    * Zone Event: Saving Lantern Hook: Fixed some NPCs using the incorrect power level, resulting in inflated experience on its death.

    SILVERWOOD

    * Silverwood has had a number of new carnage quests added to bring it up to parity with Freemarch. 14 of them, in fact!
    - If you are a Guardian and have left the zone, it might be worth taking a murder run through that idyllic forest and sweeping up some of this sweet, sweet XP.
    - Certain existing carnage quests that asked you to fight legitimately difficult fights, or asked you to go above and beyond the number of targets have had their XP reward increased.
    - Alas, without the Cosmic Rhinoceros, you can’t go back and time and redo them.

    MERIDIAN

    * The Lycini Ambassadors, as well as the Trove and Atlas Reactor promotional quest givers, are now back from their lunch break.

    ITEMS

    * Common ("white") rarity equippable items are now Bind on Equip.

    CRAFTING

    APOTHECARY

    * The vendor value of crafted fluff consumables has been reduced to 1 silver each

I'll just post the differences between Live and Prime rather than just repeating those that are the exact same

    Prime Notes:

    RIFT 4.4: Hotfix #1 3/14/2018

    == PRIME:VIGIL PATCH NOTES ==

    CARNIVAL OF THE ASCENDED

    * There is no formal Carnival of the Ascended on Vigil because... no dragons have been killed yet! However: that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve the chance to spend your hard earned money on party favors or fried butter. Look for a carnivalesque traveler in your home city! (runs March 15, 3:30 PM PT - April 5, 3:30 PM PT)

    GENERAL

    * Experience gains have been increased from all sources. Thanks for your feedback, and we will continue to monitor gains and adjusted accordingly if needed.
    * Increased the rewards for all notoriety and currency bundles in the Prime Daily Reward Calendar!
    * The daily quest limit has been increased to 30.
    * Twitter integration has been disabled due to crashes - the issue is on Twitter's end and we have been unable to raise a response from them to date. The button will be removed from the UI at a later time.

    ZONES & EVENTS

    SHIMMERSAND

    * Moved some rifts in Tempest Plain that sent a larger than normal amount of invasions to attack Sandaxle Pit.

    PVP & WARFRONTS

    * The Warfront Equipment Cache now rarely contains a mount! Either the Eldritch Vanguard White Tiger for Defiants or the Noble Guard White Tiger for Guardians.

    ITEMS

    * Expert gear vendors are now available in Sanctum in the Lodge of the Planes, and in Meridian in the courtyard alcoves.
    * Templar Zim in Sanctum and Girdoom in Meridian now offer a full selection of pre-50 PvP gear.

Good. The Prime XP buffs across the board are needed.

  3. #3
Experience gains have been increased from all sources. Thanks for your feedback, and we will continue to monitor gains and adjusted accordingly if needed.
I wish they said by how much. I hope Quests weren't increased too much. It's really nice having tons of people to do group content with and i worry that if Quest XP is buffed too much, many people will level that way entirely and there will not be as many people to do group content with. Far too many people just want to quest to 50 then start playing and that leaves not a lot of people to do lower level content with. Here's hoping they buffed Dungeon/PvP XP by more than they increased Quest XP.

Holy crap. My que times went from instant to about an hour after the last increase. Low level dungeons will probably be dead now that people don't need to run them. Oh well.

    RIFT 4.4: Hotfix #5 4/4/2018

== PRIME: VIGIL PATCH NOTES ==

Update on the Team Note from last week:

    Ability Performance Issues

Last week’s changes have helped – It’s happening less often, and affecting fewer people when it does. Progress! This week, we’re moving on to the part where we discussed moving more hardware into the Prime cluster. That will be happening during this update’s downtime.

    High End PvP Healing

As we mentioned in last week’s note, we didn’t have a way to rush out a solution that wouldn’t negatively impact other parts of the game. Expect an update here next week.

    Disabled Abilities & Class Balance

You all noticed these came on in last week’s update, following the Prime Only balance adjustments. General class balance remains a topic we’re still keeping an eye out on, as we do want to make sure that no entire roles are underperforming, and there are plenty of effective options inside of each role that fit the way you want to play.

    DUNGEONS & RAIDS

    REALM OF THE FAE: EXPERT
    * Grand Apiarist Orban: Fixed an issue where players could force Orban into a broken state.

    FOUL CASCADE: EXPERT

    * Countess Surin Skenobar: Reduced the damage dealt.

    ITEMS

    * Battle Shirt is now a shirt. I don’t know what that was a boot.

Hopefully, that will help with the horrid lag I get. They say they've made improvements, but so far, every "improvement" has made things worse for me. Probably something else entirely that made it worse for me, but it still feels like it ran flawlessly the first couple days, when I was in the most crowded zones and there was a que I had not issues while others were complaining of them. Then, as they fixed stuff, I started to have problems. Problems so bad it makes it unplayable at times and has discouraged me from even logging in the past 2-3 days. Guess I'll give it another go, again. How many chances am I going to give these guys?

To be fair the ability lag should have been fixed sooner.

Waiting a million years to cast Splinter Shot is not fun.

Although my main issue is lacking the motivation to play. Plus any friends I had playing kind of stopped at 50 citing all they were doing was Expert Dungeons for the most part.

Be it 20-30/40 on my Guardian or 40-50 on my Defiant.

So before I form an opinion...what's going on with disabled abilities? Because that sounds concerning from the outside, but not sure what that actually means in terms of the Prime server.

A few Mystic Archer abilities were disabled up until a few days ago.

Barrage was one of them I know that but I don't have it unlocked since I'm going to unlock Arbiter first on Mage if I ever get back to levelling it.

Gotcha, so not really too bad. That's good.

It's just concerning to read when everything I keep seeing gives me the impression that Trion is flying by the seat of their pants and either can't or is choosing not to really sit down and do some serious longer term planning for the server and provide a bit of a roadmap for players so they know what to expect and what's coming.

There were a lot of expectations riding on this particular patch, specially with it being the one right before the end of the first month, for many the patch and it's content was a glimpse on whether Trion could actually deliver and the deciding factor on whether they would stay subbed or not, many others gave up a long time ago.

I'm sure the usual culprits will be along to tell us to stop doom mongering and that everything is fine but I have a feeling there won't be that many people left on the 8th of this month and the server will slowly dwindle in numbers to be comparable to Live.

They could of course partially stop the inevitable haemorrhage with better communication, a roadplan of sorts and quicker reaction to the issues but Trion being Trion, well...

It was very noticeable when those 15 day vouchers ran out. Personally I am going to finish the first raid instance at least.

I think next month will be the most telling, not this month. If they don't have the T1 raids out by the end of the second month, I think a large portion of people who bought primogenator packs and didn't share their codes will be disappearing.

In addition to that, we HAVE sen some decent improvements over this first month. The quest XP fixes have been applauded by most and they have been doing some balancing. Hopefully, in this next month they really work out those balance issues and get the first tier out. If not, it almost certainly spells Game Over for Prime.

Nah don't worry. Trion will just claim it's a success based off initial numbers rather than long term numbers.

== PRIME: VIGIL PATCH NOTES ==

    VIGIL CONTENT PROGRESSION UPDATES:

    * Darkening Deeps Expert: Released!

    THE SLIVERS HAVE COME!

Gilded Prophecy and Drowned Halls, our first 10-man Slivers. Released!

Ascended, these challenging slivers are now open and ready to be conquered by your hand! Rally your forces and let fly! Best of all, both Drowned Halls and Gilded Prophecy are available through the Looking for Raid (LFR) system on Prime!

    * Entering a sliver via LFR will not trigger a raid lockout.
    * Entering a sliver through LFR as a pre-made 10-player party will trigger a raid lockout, as would manually entering the zone. Raid progress will be saved via lockout.
    * Loot in both slivers will utilize Individual Reward Charges, plus a chance at additional special cosmetic items dropped by bosses. The whisper on the winds tells us that some new costume sets are available through slivers!

    Additional PRIME: Vigil notes

    * The drop rate of mounts from PvP chests has been reduced. Sorry, the stables overrunneth and nobody wanted poop-shoveling duty!
    * Bosses in Expert Dungeons now have a chance to drop weapon skin wardrobe caches!

    GENERAL

    * The Ironpine Peaks quest “Dabbling in the Forbidden” is now available at level 35.

    * Fixed an issue that caused the daily calendar to not show the proper rewards gained, in certain cases.
    * Fixed an issue causing the ignore system to not work. That would be a tragic issue indeed. We all love peace in our time.
