God no, I do what I want in my life. My decisions, my opinions, my responsibilities. People that need to be part of a group are Weak. It's why collectivism is full of so many weak-willed people and sheep.

You pretty much described a lot of different kinds of groups too. And by my personal experience, I wouldn't call collectivist weak willed. In fact most of the people I met who are weak willed often do so out of the very fear of being complacent.

Think of Emo, people generally stereotyped as those who identify themselves with everything that makes them unhappy or miserable, hate everything, keep themselves paranoid and distrusting out of a fear, the same fear as those who are overly optimistic and go the other way.

My point is there are a lot of places from which to hide, by the way not judging anybody Emo as it were, just articulating the stereotype, however true or untrue. but over all it applies to everyone.

I find it funny how his theory is rehashed into every word that has the meaning "a collection of people." they are plagiarists all of them (looking especially at you Amy Chua with your damn tribe writings.) Did anyone see her on Bill Maher? She is literally plagiarizing Le Bon almost word by word and swapping crowd with tribe.

And uh yes everyone is affected by crowd identity to some degree or other so this is a stupid question to ask. Heck, even those that vehemently refuses to admit to this, like "exclusives" and "specials" are part of a crowd identity of some other. (if you say you are in fact without a crowd then you are not "part" of your nation and say...wouldn't defend it, (Gustave names nation and race as important factors of crowd psychology)).
