It may be relevant to you - I did my undergraduate thesis on whether or not in game alignment was predictive of player attitudes and actions in Star Wars: The Old Republic. I focused specifically on the Light Side/Dark Side dichotomy there, rather than race/class/spec, as Dark/Light dovetailed better with my questions.
