The Horde and Alliance are at war. Old God interference makes it look like both sides are doing shit they didn’t actually do to escalate the hostility. Anduin somehow learns about this and tries to convince Sylvanas, who’s still on a warpath, to make peace.

And you're suggesting Alliance should just wait in Stormwind with heads in sand till Sylvanas finishes building her super weapons? Seriously? Is that what you would do if you ran Alliance?
You really should have checked who I was quoting and most importantly why.
Sylvanas's diplomacy is so good, she shrugs off Anduin's last desperate peace initiative and launches into another disastrous war for the Horde. Is she so bad at history that she doesn't remember how these have worked out in the past?

When azerite was discovered, she could have cordoned off the area and sent emergency message to Anduin that they needed to talk. She could have ordered guards to prevent mining, but allow Alliance delegates to inspect so there would be transparency. They could have agreed to split it evenly for mutual deterrence, or worked together to make sure no one used it.

She chose none of those, and look where it's leading us: Teldrassil burned, Undercity uninhabitable... And we're just getting started!
What makes Genn's attack in Stormheim so incredibly stupid is that it rules out any form of conflict de-escalation and makes diplomacy or even communication near impossible. Genn attacked Sylavans because he believes that she is somehow responsible for Varian's death. You think she should send some more messengers to their death to explain to him that he is severely mistaken, do you think this would lead to anything but another pointless attack?

Tyrande wasn't wrong about anything she said about Illidan. These are beings that have lived for over ten millenia. It is obvious they will not so easily forget what Illidan did in the past and even more so considering how close they were back in the day.

She simply has no emotions towards Illidan and that is it. They were friends, she never loved him and he betrayed his people a long time ago. Anyone who expected her to weep or to rush into his arms expected something that was completely out of character. Do not forget that, after all, she was the one to free him during the Third War.

It wasn't just the perception that they were betrayed at the Broken Shore; it was also because of unsettled scores in regards to Gilneas, his people and his son.
