holding interest season to season on a series is different compared to movie to movie.
Even Movies in multiple parts can't be too far apart either. In general.
Either way, too early to tell...all we can do is wait and see

Lets not get caught in the subjectivity of what is and is not "Big Name IP". Are there always exceptions? Yes. Do some hold better then others? Sure. Did Avatar have an entire Theme park built to keep some interest? Yeah. It still remains that it is usually the smaller or newer franchises that require things to actively keep people interested. At some point things reach a critical mass where not much needs to be done.
You can see this in video games a lot. A good reputation can boost sales as much as any marketing. Even flops sometimes don't impact sales from those big name developers.

Well, AFAIK they're just saying S1 to S2 is gonna take 2 years. Is this going to be the trend moving forward for all seasons? We don't really know yet.
I don't think it's going to be 5 seasons in 10 years, maybe more like 5 seasons in 7-8 years, and that'd still be acceptable to me.
Even Stranger Things S4 missed its mark and had a longer hiatus than expected, and still turned out with a major hitter even if there are vocal fans out there talking about seasons not being as good as previous seasons or expressing general loss of interest. I mean, once it hits, people don't usually hold a 'grudge' on avoiding it. As long as there's healthy word of mouth/marketting, that's usually enough to get people back on board.
I never noticed that until now, gives a whole new meaning to 'making a mountain out of a mole hill'
I'll get my coat...
But seriously they need to learn how to shoot perspective. Mount Doom in the Peter Jackson movies always felt looming with it mostly always been shoot to look large, to give the impression that its intimidating even from far away has a presence.
thats not to say they havent not shot it that way before. In episode 6 there was a shot of it before it exploded and when it did explode where it looked quite intimidating. In episode 7 it looks like it shrunk. :P

Yeah, you are correct. Just a bit surprising to me that they do 2 years, that's all.
They brag so much about budget, approved seasons and they've started filming...hence my guess on 1 year.

Thanks for confirming I'm not going crazy...
Wonder if the VFX people were tearing their hair out on how wrong this looks, as is often the case because customers and clients are sometimes very hard to talk to. They want it their way regardless of advice at times. A bit biased in favor of VFX people in my speculation though
My guess they wanted so much at the top to visualize how devastating it is to the sky...
But at the same time they wanted to show the destruction of the lands which requires looking down more. You can't really do both without bigger camera movements.

Thats of course, he reflection of the bad writers, this would be one of the ways they actually raise stakes and push other characters forward, hell, even Tolkien Killed off Boromir to do it.
Man, it is insane, im changing my opinion if those guys are actually that bad writing, or is that they are doing on purpose to fuck us over. The hobbits continue to be pointless. I had to laugh at the Harfoot's rousing speech about how they "stay true to each, no matter how the path winds or how steep it gets", the same group of hobbits whose culture is to abandon each other to die when they fall behind. Do the writers even talk to each other? lol... The falling leaf stirred the balrog but not all the mining noises? And that ending with the map changing its name was cringe as fuck, Adar should have spoken it.
Cause its beyond bogus the hypocrisy of those little sociopaths, and its even worse that someone read the scrip and though this was fine.
I think im the only one who don't like Durin and Elrdon, but just because they fuck with the plot here so much that i think everyone is retarded and are doing things for the sake of plot. The Elrond/Durin scenes are great as usual. I like the white priestess who burned the caravans with magic, she's got potential. I wonder what the source of her magic is?
They motivations don't feel real or genuine, there is no fuck reason that Durin would CRY over some elves losing their immortality, cause LOL, even losing it they would still live thousands of years anyway ~~well it does not even make sense that 'elves are losing their light" so shit start becoming bad here~~
They want us to care about elves, dying, but no, i don't give a fuck, they would still outlive anyone, this is such a minor issue that Galadriel doesn't even know she is losing her light, so who control this?
Durin wife is also, is waaay to concerned about someone who ghosted her husband for 20 years.
While i do like Durin, i fucking hate Elrond, almost every interaction with hum show him as a massive liar.

Hopefully they just cancel this shit, or take this time to fire the writers, the producers and directors and get someone at least half decent
That is the star trek discovery problem... the best thing they could do I declare the first season as non con and start over from square one..
Just admit they effectively accomplished nothing but setting money on fire and make the mildly funny joke of fat people screaming " there is a tempest inside me" before farting.
Well I remember when Cowboy Beebop remake reached its end, they were making and starting working on a season 2 and then later on it was revealed to be cancelled. Remember just because they say they are making another season doesn't mean it will get made... but who knows.
