I can't help we have failed as a society when people defend this show as anything other than a complete shit adaptation (and mediocre AT BEST show even when divorced from Tolkein, this show had over half a billion spent on it in the first season). How did our standards become so low?
If you are judging society based on a singular TV show then it isn't society that has failed but yourself. It really is baffling how many display an inability to cope with people liking something that they themselves do not. Instead of accepting it and moving on you have to villify and hate those people.

Well ya that’s obviously not the case even with just the timeline condensing involved.
Though it’s questionable rather something could even be on par with canon when you don’t have the rights to the canon. Like I don’t know how this stuff works but would the get shit for pulling things directly from the book because they don’t have the rights or do they have to make every thing slightly off so they can say there not pulling from the book or what.
Evil only wins when it spreads. It can cause destruction, it can cause death—but those are consequences of its nature, not its victory. Not its goal. The danger of evil, the purpose of evil, is that it causes those who would oppose it to become evil also.

The obvious idea was not do this adaptation, if you don't have the rights, or do a new self contained story in the universe of middle earth, away from characters.
And we can't just pretend the problem lies sole in the fact they can't adapt stuff and had to change/create new stuff, is that what they create and changed is actually awful and is a mockery to the original, with shit dialogues trying to be "tolkenian" with the stone and the ship, or when they made the "they gonna steal our jerbs" scene.
If they actually made a new story, like a warrior elf searching for an evil elf, or an evil orc, or even a human warlock or something, people would not care, they would see as a mediocre show and move on.
Canon just means the same continuity so other works need to reference it. So "on par with canon" would mean that it is similar to what could have been written as official. In the case of comparisons for the show it would be stuff that doesn't contradict anything and also doesn't stand out as obviously non-canon. If they gave Sauron a ak-47 that is obviously not on par with canon though gunpowder did exist.
Technically express trains exist in the story as the hobbit narrator compares fireworks to one. Of course that is dismissed as Tolkien being an in-universe translator to their account and slipping in different words for the translation into English. If the show had the Harfoots riding an express train across middle earth it wouldn't be on par with canon even account for "lost in translation" effects.

No. They would. The amount of you in this thread that can't let go of a show you've hated for years and started right back up with just a trailer drop indicates that much. You can pretend if you want but posting habits indicate that most of you wouldn't move on.

"we are going to be more faithful to the work in season 2"
Also, in season 2:
Rory Kinnear as Tom Bombadil in ‘LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER’ season 2.
The madlads will put Tom Bombadil IN THIS SHOW
I will never fathom why people stay in a thread on a MMO fansite, discussing a show they don't like. If you don't like the show, is it really that hard to just.. ignore it? Weird stuff.
Hi

I will never fathom why people come in a thread on a mmo fansite, discussing a show they don't like, just to complain about people talking about the show they don't like. If you don't get why, is rly that hard to just...ignore the topic and people discussing it? weird stuff

Tom bombadill? Why, they replaced him with Radagast, who seemed less high on 'shrooms than Tom, we don't need another wizard even more on the sauce...
I liked Radagast, but Bombadill makes me side with Sauron...
Hopefully have more clever writing like stones being jealous of boats
nah all I can remember from the trailer is the cliche elf warrior doing the sword twirl of the wrist to show hes ready for combat and the bridge of kasadoom memberries ill have a look now
"he worms himself into your mind, and the rest of him slithers in"
well which is it, a worm or a snake. Again you can see what they are attempting at with these metaphors but they're written by a high school student trying to pass creative writing level 2

It is okay if you don't understand the phrase but hating on the show so much you think it is talking about an animal is hilarious.
worm your way/yourself into something (disapproving)
