I never said we watch the things we hate, I know you only look at things the way you want to in order to justify your horrible opinions, and will shovel whatever drivel the companies toss at you, but some people have standards.

Torrent says hi, still going strong and just as easy as 20years ago. I don't have time to hate-watch, I just stop. But you're right, that some people will watch a thing they hate only to prove they are right. These guys are the kind I just avoid irl immediately, the "being right guys".

I think the new thing is "watch the youtube person who will bite the bullet and watch it and then tell you about what happened with comentary that makes it more interesting than if you had watched it in the first place without making you as angry about the utter crud they turned your old IP into".

Even though I disagree with them occassionally, I'll watch(listen) a whole EFAP about a movie I have no intention of spending money on, because their content is better, and frankly way longer. Generally they are right on point and I get to avoid supporting shows/movies that frankly don't deserve it.

They are how I knew about Wandavision, while still never having watched a single episode of the show that ruined one of my favorite Marvel characters.

The ip is "crud" either way at that point. I don't see the difference between actually watching it or just hearing about it, other than that you get to form your own opinion in one case or borrow someone else's in the other.

Lenny Henry is always a joy. Loved his stand up when I was younger but kind of fell out or just plain drifted away from him later on. Hadn't heard the guys name for like 15 years lol. Very weird to pop up here of all places lol

I am quite sure Tolkien, if he lived today, would have black elfs. He was very modern with his litterature.

/shrug Whether he would or wouldn't is basically irrelevant.

But this sort of brigading based entirely on [insert clickbait culture war bullshit] is so ridiculous. Even if it does turn out to be a decent show, it's not like the useless fucks spamming the comments section of every video on the subject are going to admit they were wrong. They'll just quietly move on to the next pop culture production to whine incessantly about.

Given the fact that Amazon completely rewrote the show after the person who knew him best died (his son Christopher Tolkein RIP), I feel this is less likely. Think Tolkein would have been fine with writing a story in a different universe with a lot of diversity, but this was supposed to be the historic fantasy/story's of Great Britain, so he wrote it the way he wanted too (much the same way the MCU presented Black Panther).

Needless to say I am more annoyed about things like the rumored lack of Celeborn (at least in season 1, like seriously he is Galadrials husband who very much is a warrior, whom in the 2nd age she has a child called Celebrian, only the future wife of Elrond/mother of Arwen) , or Cirdan the shipwright (he HAS To come in at some point as someone who bears one of the elvish rings till just before the OG trilogy), the squishing of the 2nd age into a few years? (we know they condense things, which is bad enough, but depending how much could be so bad considering the 2nd age lasted ~3,000 IRCC) and various other problems along these lines.

Again I am not asking for a 100% faithful adaptation, but a 80-90% would be nice, tired of Hollywood writers/directors thinking they know better than the person who created the stories they are butchering.

I'm sure when the next Captain Marvel movie gets announced we'll never hear the end of it.

You know what I can't find it, congrats.

Oh but wait you still ignore all the shit I say to nit pick one thing, which is irrelevant in the grand scheme. We know how Christopher felt about the changes Jackson made (which are far fewer/less dramatic already from just the little they have gave us) and was mad about that trilogy, but yeah he would TOTALLY be on board and okay with this series which shits all over the 2nd age/his fathers story.

No seriously, be honest, you think Christopher would have been okay with this? Don't bullshit anyone, it might be the story YOU and others want, but it certainly isn't faithful to what J.R.R or Christopher wanted.

If he was "mad about the Jackson trilogy" no one should give two shits what his opinion is/was about anything related to the adaptations of these works. Let people like that stew in their sacred inviolable texts while the rest of us get on with our lives.

one of those two people is dead, so who the fuck cares, the other one isn't involved so his input is about as meaningful. I hope you people trying to pretend to be offended on other people's behalf realize they're acting exactly like hysteric Tumblr SJW's.

LOL, we can disagree with Christopher about LoTR or not, but doesn't automatically make his opinion less valid (I say that is someone that loved the trilogy). His opinion is still very much valid, as half of the works in the universe of LoTR were published by his hand/piecing together, he has a lot better say than some rando on a game forum.

I think the big difference between Peter Jackson and the two idiots is that Jackson was always very respectful to Tolkein and did his best to make films be believed Tolkein would like(even if he has differences), meanwhile with Mckay and Payne, they have clearly stated they are making a the story up to date with their beliefs, ignoring what Tolkein wants.

Letting people make shitty changes willy nilly because they can is how you destroy franchises.

I know you don't like or read Tolkein, but introducing what 5 new characters, changing Galadrial into a warrior (the potential was there you can argue, but she never fought in the stories we have, so yes it is changing) the lack of Celebron, the condensing of thousands of years of the 2nd age into a much shorter time frame, the race swapping, The fact they have two Durins (III and IV) cast when they weren't alive at the same time (as it is widely regarded they are reincarnation of Durin I), and much more I am willing to bet is all shit we have gotten from the tiny amounts they have released. They are completely changing the 2nd age. Stop lying to fight your agenda.

my dude, the Hobbit movies already did more to damage this brand's name than a show that isn't even out yet...

My dude, you don't see me defending the Hobbit movies, they sucked balls too. Just because something is bad doesn't mean you should continue the course and pray this one is different, in fact the massive deviations from the source the Hobbit movies did should be a giant caution flag about doing so again in the rings of power.

It was clear that The Hobbit trilogy wasn't made with the same love and consideration for Tolkein that went into LoTR trilogy, and considering what Mckay and Payne have said, Rings of Power is much closer to the Hobbit trilogy beliefs than LoTR.

I mean I probably won't, has shit to do with me posting here or being able to point out problems. People fell in love with J.R.R. Tolkeins stories, that is what people want, not Payne/Mckays stories (it is possible, but very much doubt it).

You don't like me pointing out all the issues/changes you can feel free to put me on a ignore list. Problem solved.

lmao, I just think it's funny how you guys need to keep this thread going based on you being upset on someone else's behalf. that's the part that gets me. clearly it's not enough that you don't like the freedoms they are taking with a story that has for all we know very little to no actual attachment to "official" lore. no, you're telling us how other people are also mad about it as well, and that is supposed to be the convincing argument here.
