I think that's a mixture of better AI (yay!) and them making everything a bit less bullet spongey? IIRC it's cranked down during leveling and at least world difficulty 1, anyone know if that carries over to the harder difficulties?

Because I didn't need to spend 24/7 glued to cover like i do in here while leveling, I spent most of leveling run and gunning in Div1

Then you either played the game straight from max level or you're flat out lying because using cover is a staple in Tom Clancy games.

Question: Did running and gunning prepare you for the endgame in TD1? Because I did that, and it sure as hell didn't prepare me for the harder content. I'd argue that teaching players these kinds of core mechanics as an important part of combat early on is an improvement overall.

May not be everyone's cup of tea, but TD is firmly a cover based third person shooter through and through so it makes sense.

Learning how to use cover efficiently helped me solo most of Div 1 only thing I couldnt solo was the Incursions (admitedly I only tried 1) was because i had all the elites just charge me down. So using the cover system in 2 has come quite naturally to me.

Eh, in end game I did the same thing end game but just died more, I mean, I play games my way and if it doesn't fit with how I want to play I just stopped playing, Div 1 worked, Div 2 doesn't seem like its going to. Doesn't make it a bad game, just not my kind of game anymore.

All of that's true, but I think a lot of people think that means you have to use cover ALL the time, which isn't true. But neither can you just stand out in the open and fire away without care.

Part of that is because of the damage scaling while leveling. If you don't update your armor and weapons ever 2 levels or so, you REALLY feel the difference. But I think that's compounded by the smarter AI, which absolutely will take advantage of you if you play stupid.

Honestly, I think it's a good change. The game is actually kind of challenging now. It's more engaging to play because you actually have to pay attention.
In case it wasn't clear, I'm a fan of what Blizzard COULD be, not the ruins of what it is now.

You'll be melting elites on challenging aslong as you focus fire and get a few % elite damage perks on gear. The biggest difference is that on Challenging missions you'll actually get dicked immediately if you're out of cover 75% of the time and the bounty i did on Heroic had named mobs soaking a lot of damage, like 15-20s concentrated focus of fire.

Though that's the absolute highest difficulty so it's to be expected

I remember back when TD1 came out and the endless grenade spam every 2-3 second paired with rushers that could oneshot you from 50m away being a big deterrent towards my playtime there. Didn't help that tanking in the game early one was literally pointless due to shields dying in 1 hit

Game looks intresting but something block me from buying it. Maybe problem is setting, prefer more sci-fi-fantasy settings.
Why there are no any flashlights/mods or nightvision? Its design decision?
I mean there some cool lighting effects ingame(sometimes its almost blinding!) so its not restricted by tech. In streams there also alot of really dark areas, are chests or interactive objects always visible? Only i think game is lost some realism/immersion because of this.

Usually pretty visible, yes. Not giant auras or anything, but as you run by you can usually spot the lighted outline for things you can loot.

You don't just stand there like Supernan the entire battle. It buys you time to traverse to a more advantageous area or flank a few guys then grab cover to regen the shield. Or helps against a bad reinforcement where you are pinned from both sides. There are also gear mods that increase shield health.

I tend to reload a lot, so I also tend to get caught with my pants down by flanking enemies or guys just spawning behind me. The shield saves my bacon in these situations, turning what should have been a defeat into victory.

It's less of a tool I use all the time, and more of an OH SH*T button. Now that I think of it, I wonder if it will save me from those Hammer dudes. I'll need to test that.

I assume its a balance factor, but all melee staggers shields. The half shield at least.

Any idea how to restart the initial setup that shows up when one first starts the game? I've chosen large fonts and now the left loot message window ow looks ridiculous. It's not the setting from UI.

Hey, if it stops me from being oneshot I'm ok with it. Although if I get staggered I'm not sure how long I'll last anyway.

How was the xp though for a low lvl? because I have friends coming to the game at a later date but like in Division 1 we power lvl'd them through t5 challenging dungeons, im hoping we can do the same so we can do high lvl shizz together

Even though im only lvl 4 myself atm not had a great deal of time to play but soon no work for a few weeks due to emigration.
