Program/software that cancels out background noise in dialogue recording?

Long story short I’ve got some dialogue recorded for a short film and some recording was done outside, and needless to say some background noise was picked up even though it is a 300 dollar directional shotgun mic recorded with a h4n pro and a noise cancelling furball on it (go figure)

The voice quality is really good but I want to cancel out the background noise and use my own background track that I can control. Are there any programs or softwares that do this?

Also, any tips on recording dialogue outside and getting as little background noise as possible?

I mean you could try out audacity. It's really good for filtering background noise.
