OWL "massive success" haters were wrong.

"When we were finalizing our purchase of an Overwatchleague franchise, there was a very wide spread amount of skepticism and many people who immediately wrote off the idea as a flash in the pan. Boy, were they wrong. The first regular season was a massive success."

EDIT2: Have these teams explained how they managed to make back their $20mill investment yet?

...is it even remotely possible that enough skins were bought that they got their fraction from Blizzard to pay that back? There'd need to be probably hundreds of millions of skins sold. PER TEAM.

who knows? it's not like the nyxl tracer skin has "saebyolbe" written on it so i doubt he is getting any of the money even though he is the one selling that skin.

    I was mostly being sarcastic.

OW is going through that short stint where WoW was an esport and then it got too boring to watch. Blizz just waiting to fuck these guys over, they don't have what it takes to commit a game to being an esport, they are just riding the wave and going to leave everyone else stranded when it drops.

The slots ranged from like 5 mil to 20 mil, last I heard only the LA team slots paid 20 mil.

And financially it probably was a sucess. As for what it did for gaming and esports in general... Questionable, they've have some silly and downright retarded issues that never should have come up, like the pepe thing.
