India has overtaken France to become the world’s sixth biggest economy, latest data from the World Bank show. The South Asian nation is now a $2.597 trillion economy and only a tad higher than France’s $2.582 trillion. It will be the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2022, according to projections by the International Monetary Fund.

Of course this is Bloomberg and who the hell I am to say this but..corruption and black economy ruled by different crime syndicates would swap these numbers pretty drastically. GPD is controlled by these syndicates...

The same situation as with China and USA - you just have to compare populations and the economy size. Make conclusions based on that, instead of loud news articles.
Country with 1.3 billion people overtook one with 67 million. Not so rosy picture anymore, eh?

Not really. The overall purchasing power and contribution to the global economy hasn't changed. India still has way less disposable income than France, still has a lot less of an ability to trade, manufacture or invest. Originally Posted by Bumbasta
Size matters. But how you can wield it remains more important. That's why small economies like Canada, Australia, Sweden or Norway wield such a disproportionate influence.
