I was thinking about Il'gynoth's quotes again, and this patch 8.2 does give definite meaning to some of them. Il'gynoth seems to have been talking about the Old Gods' involvement with BfA all the time.

    Generic stuff:
Flesh is his gift. He is your true creator.
From the earth, he draws strength. Our earth. Our strength.
Curse of flesh and Azerite, it seems.

    8.2 stuff:
To find him, drown yourself in the circle of stars.
The king of diamonds has been made a pawn.
Her heart is a crater, and we have filled it.
Azshara talks about Magni being used as a pawn for N'Zoth, as the Heart of Azeroth is the key to free the Old God.

Azshara also speaks of meeting her in the Circle of Stars, and we know she plans to use us to free N'Zoth.

Also, this patch indicates that Sylvanas is working with N'Zoth and Azshara in some way. It starts with her getting Xal'atath (the Torch to guide her way) and then sending Horde and Alliance to Azshara's trap.

    Still unclear:
The lord of ravens will turn the key.
The boy-king serves at the master's table. Three lies will he offer you.
Five keys to open our way. Five torches to light our path.
At the hour of her third death, she will usher in our coming.
Its surface blazes bright, masking shadows below.
    Who's the lord of ravens?
    What are the three lies?
    What are the five keys?
Her third death, it's either about Alleria or Sylvanas. And seems to hint at how this expansion will end.
And the last one, I'm convinced it's the Sunwell.

    -----------------------------

Also, some other tidbits in Ogmot’s journal:

Last night, Ogmot dreams of great battle. Two fleets bashin on ocean of blood.

Shadows twistin beneath da ships, risin. Risin. Ogmot so happy watching the carnage!
    Clearly, it’s about 8.2.

So, is the next one 8.3?

Ogmot sees lady wrapped in dark swirlies. She leads herd of blind sheep.

Da sheepies follow her everplace she go. Do everthin she say. Never doubt lady.

She guide dem over tall cliff! SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT! Stupid sheepies!

Da crows get fat eatin da sheepflesh. Da lady laugh as crows eat!

    Ogmot laugh too!
And the last one is about the lies:

Three lies. Da first one been told.

Bound by dat throne? No. Free. Free!

Da next gonna come soon. Maybe dey see dis one.
    So, a wild prediction:

Sylvanas will lead the Horde into another major battle against the Alliance as a distraction.

Meanwhile, who Sylvanas sent to Azshara's trap? Lor'themar. Is it to leave Quel'thalas vulnerable? Is Sylvanas going to bring Xal'atath to the Sunwell?

And, since Xal'atath is emptied of its original host entity, what if N'Zoth made a backup plan should Azshara fail? What if he, or another entity that answers to him, is inside the dagger, only waiting a massive power source to corrupt to the Void and manifest itself?

What if last patch is Quel'thalas? And last raid is around the corrupted Sunwell?
    Whatever...

Sylvanas working with Azshara would make her look even WORSE and perhaps a traitor to the world(Azshara is no friend to the world soul). Also I doubt we'll have another Sunwell esque raid. The whiners would come out claiming Blizzard is unoriginal.

What would hypothetically happen if Xal'atath was brought to the Sunwell...? Would it stop at its corruption (and what would that have in terms of consequences) or lead to even more misery?

    If you want some spoilers...

Sylvanas makes a deal with Ashvane. Sylvanas gets Xal'atath as a "torch to guide her way". Sylvanas sends the Horde ships to be pursued by the much more powerful Alliance fleet. Azshara attacks both fleets, essentially disabling the superior Alliance fleet. Ashvane is with Azshara. Lor'themar, who was sent in the Horde ships, finds over the course of the patch that Sylvanas setup for them to be attacked by Azshara.

    So, yeah, it's happening already.

And, as per Ogmot's dreams, the dark lady will guide her herd of loyal sheep to their own doom...

If what happened with Alleria is an indication, something powerful in the Void would react with the Sunwell, which seems to be "masking shadows" bellow its bright surface.

At first everything Sylvanas did seemed like she was trying to destroy the bonds between Kul Tiras and the Alliance. So just what the Alliance did with the Zandalari, but more in the dark, after Sylvanas attacks in Kul Tiras were pointless. I guess with freeing Ashvane she hoped for a good ally there plus a time bomb named Derek.

  8. #5708
where are people getting the idea that sylvanas is working with azshara?

  9. #5709
Where did the everyone else learnt about Azshara being another N'Zoth puppet?

Sylvanas already bargained with Helya, so why not with Ashvane and not giving a flying fuck about Azshara.

  10. #5710
yeah the naga are totally not old god allies never seen them working together.

... Ok, now I'm 100% hoping that they'll be exploring and taking the story in that direction. :O
Alleria! I had all but forgotten that and checked back on it. She just got near it and the reaction was severe, now I dread to (but love to) imagine what can happen with Xal'atath involved.

Back when the thing with Alleria happened I thought that it's strange Rommath was so adamant about letting Alleria close and could not even stop Sylvanas from going there if he wanted to. But then I thought, nah, Sylvanas doesn't have a reason to go there, why would she.
But now... if this was maybe part of why N'zoth wanted the blade to be in her hands as part of their bargain or his scheme, that would make things interesting indeed. I mean, we don't know if the blade has any inherent powers or if those were lost with Xal'atath. But it sure has some kind of void stuff going on, maybe that's enough.

She could, of course, choose to use the Sunwell for the same thing Arthas used it, to bring back some being from the dead. Maybe with Xal'atath she could even bring back an Old God? Like... she uses the blade to transfer N'zoth from his prison to the Sunwell? Or, if the blade itself is indeed not an Old God but the claw of Y'shaarj (which was one of the rumored origin stories in the order hall), she could maybe try to bring him back?

Why would Sylvanas bring back an Old God to life? That's not good for the Horde, it risks even more for her life to end to and since allegedly the Void doesn't like her, it would make her an idiot.

I stopped thinking Sylvanas is still working for the Horde about the time I read A Good War.
And we don't even know if the void speaks with the same voices to everyone. Alleria's fallen Naaru didn't like Sylvanas, and Sylvanas didn't like it either (she even specifically mentions it being a fallen Naaru), but maybe it makes a difference if it's a Naaru or an Old God? The void Naaru we were able to talk to were still quite Naaru-ish in their way of looking at things and while L'ura seemed a lot further gone than some of the others, she may still harbor some original Naaru instincts.
Also, you don't have to like the void or even be all for it devouring the planet just to make a deal with an Old God. Loken didn't, Helya didn't, Azshara didn't, Neltharion didn't (at first).

Of course all of this doesn't need to mean anything and my thoughts above were only that, some thoughts, a little far out and pure speculation.^^
