Can't believe they listened and finally fixed shadow REJOICE
Shadow
Mind Flay damage increased by 10%.
Mind Sear damage increased by 15%.
I'm sure it will look like this...
15% increase to DoTs
15% increase to MS, 10% to MF
10% increase to Mind Blast in the following patch
10% increase to Mindbender/Shadowfiend following that
<Blizz devs look at eachother>
Harold: "Why didn't we just do a 10% buff across the board?"
Sarah: "We do it over time so they think we're actually crunching numbers HAROLD. Gosh."
Is Blizzard even real
The Shaman were louder so they get their actual changes first.
... Are you calling a Mind Flay +10% a "fix" ? Like, Shadow spec is fixed now ?
Do you realize that's not even a 1% dmg increase for one of the lower spec in the game right now ? While 5 of the other "low damage" specs are receiving 4+% baseline on all their abilities in the same hotfix ?
No.
THIS IS NOT A FUCKING FIX. THIS IS A BANDAID WHILE THEY WORK ON THE REAL FIX.
Those other specs are not slated for a rework. This is quite literally a temporary thing.
OMFG. All of you people having a heart attack. Blizzard has straight up stated that shadow is in a bad place and that they are reworking the spec. Gross mechanical changes take time to balance, and they said the earliest it would be out would be 8.1. They're not going to dedicate a ton of time to poking at shadow if they're going to change the whole damn thing anyways.
You guys are ignoring the more interesting part. THEY DIDN'T BUFF THE DAMAGE AURA. That would be the easiest of the temporary fixes. So why buff those two things? Does that mean that they're irrelevant in the new changes, and are going away? Or does it mean the other things are being changed?
This thread will be so much fun if there is no 'rework' coming.
or i quoted a specific part so that you couldn't strawman again
so how about answering lol
Not using a strawman for anything, but I'll spell it out since it isn't clear.
We know two things: The developers have directly mentioned that Shadow is NOT fine, and that it is scheduled for a rework, the earliest available being 8.1.
If you've been playing this game for any period of time, you know that "rework" is phrasing tied directly to mechanics. "Numbers tuning" means that they're changing the numbers on abilities. "Numbers tuning" is much simpler and just equates to changing damage values on spells or on the damage aura. "Rework" means that they'll be doing things like removing, changing, or adding new talents, or even core spells. "Rework" means that the way that the class is played will be changed. "Numbers tuning" means that the core intended gameplay of the spec is NOT changed. The fact that the Shadow rework wasn't available for 8.0, means that they're trying something very different, and thus must test it a lot more. We do not know how many iterations it is going through.
So knowing that Shadow is scheduled for an actual rework, and that what has been datamined is small adjustments on two spells, this is very clearly NOT the final implementation of the new shadow adjustments.
That means that the people "panicking" in this thread are one of two things: impatient children engaging in extreme hyperbole, or they legitimately haven't been here long enough to figure out the developer terminology and having been keeping track of developer communication, and thus think that this is the end of it. You can tell me which one you are.
YOU have deliberately ignored the fact that I acknowledge that they selected to specific spells for numbers adjustments, and ignore the fact that I speculate that it could have some longer-reaching ramifications for further in the future. Once again, this is very clearly NOT a rework.
Life must be rough if you don't understand sarcasm. But I'll spell it out for you too, since you need it. The sky isn't falling, doom isn't coming, and this isn't the end of the shadow adjustments. The developers are not done fixing shadow.
They said shadow was in a bad spot, and that it was slated for a rework. I don't normally expect developers to lie about something like that.
Well, everyone has two options.
Believe that Blizzard is going to do the rework that they said they were going to do and continue playing as normal in order to see what they do.
Believe that there is no rework coming. Then you can either settle with a sub-par spec, or you can reroll.
If you're so jaded to believe that the developers are deliberately misleading you, then I don't know how you would believe that crying and whining about the situation on third party forums would do anything.
