Black Ops 4 - Traditional Multiplayer & Battle Royale (Black Out)

Black Ops 4 is coming out on 12 October 2018, so time for a thread I guess.

BO4 will not offer a single player story mode but instead will add Black Out, which is a new battle royale mode.
It will have its traditional Multiplayer modes and zombie maps, with the biggest changes being increased health (takes slightly longer to kill), specialist characters with unique abilities/tools and the ability to self-heal (no more auto-heal when out of combat).

Are you going to play it at launch? Pick it up later? Or completely leave it untouched?

I just dont play these type of games anymore but it looks like something I wouldve bought. Another battle royale mode that blows PUBG out of the water, which is good but I dont want to make this about my issues against that game.

I think their (Activision - COD) price point is bullshit in today's climate. An annual multiplayer only game asking $60? Only something COD could get away with. In today's market those kind of games are free. Another reason why I won't be getting it. Buy BO4 or play Fortnite on virtually any device for free...hmmm.

It genuinely feels like cawadoody just has no idea what it wants to be anymore and is just chasing fads hoping something sticks. When your design ethos is 'imitate what already has an audience' thats a sign of extreme developer and brand fatigue. Maybe 25 releases in and no original ideas is a sign the brand has ran its course. There are some interesting changes here but a lot of it, battle royale meme aside, in regular multiplayer feels like they didn't get sales imitating titanfall so now they are imitating rainbow six siege with grappling hooks. Which could be fine but what i've seen looks like a busy mess both visually and mechanically.

I knew that when these big companies got into BR they'd blow the other two out of the water and with what little I played of the beta its deserved. It's just straight forward open map run and gun gameplay with responsive controls and a non cluster fuck UI. I imagine Dice's will absolutely crush though I don't know if they have any plans to get into it.

That being said I likely won't buy it on release and will wait for a big sale. It's fun but it's not that fun.

I haven't purchased a CoD title since MW:2 but I'll be buying it (even though it's slightly overpriced). Only because I hate how much of a shitfest PUBG has become (and how out of touch their devs are). FN was never in question since I loath the building mechanics.

I knew once AAA devs got into BR I'd eventually make the switch. I just thought EA/Dice would get into it first TBH. I'd imagine CoD sales will surpass BF this year given how poor BF5's pre-orders have been.

I will get a copy myself, for PS4. I've always liked CoD and no ashamed to admit it
I really like multiplayer shooters that are fast and are easy to pick up and play for 1-2 hours whenever you have time.

Even though I rather had a new Modern Warfare (MW4 is rumoured to come out in 2019!), I will enjoy this one as well.

pre ordered it for the BR mode after playing the beta.

    The traditional MP sucks.

I need some fun shooters and IoN is dead, PUBG sucks and BF5 has been pretty disappointing too, this game is going to be it.

Absolutely not a fan of the super high tech semi cyber-stuff though.
I'd rather have something like BF4/MW.

I'll admit that I thoroughly enjoy the pace of CoD games, which has (admittedly) led me disappointed at so many CoD games in the past, like Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, Ghosts, and to some degree WWII. However, I have always loved the Modern Warfare series and the Black Ops series, so I jumped the gun on Black Ops IIII and pre-ordered, got the early beta access for both multiplayer and Blackout, and this is the first time since MW3/Black Ops 2 that I've actually been really, truly excited for a CoD game.

It's (imho) the best shooter I've tried in years, and Blackout felt truly great when I played it during the beta, I encountered no lag spikes or disconnects. The movement was fantastic, the graphics (when running at 2K) was great, just overall a good game. The campaign: Sure I'll miss it, since this one should take place between Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 in the timeline, I was curios to see where they'd take the story. But seeing how they are getting dedicated servers, something the fans have been crying about for years, they've dedicated a lot more time into making Zombies a real thing, instead of just 'that little extra', and with Blackout being such a fantastic BR game, I am excited.

I received BO4 yesterday and played all day today. Gotta say, it's good old fashion COD fun again!
Fast, chaotic and feels satisfying as hell to shoot become better after a couple of hours and being able to shoot people in the face.

I also REALLY love the zombie maps, which have some awesome themes this time and hilarious characters (and speech).

    Anyone else playing?

I'm not, I have little interest in the game and won't be spending $60 for a MP only title.

With that said Zombies actually does look fun and I haven't enjoyed zombies in a COD.

So how's the PC version running, performance kind of sucked a couple of months ago during a beta but I've made some changes since then.

I've been watching a stream tonight of the zombies mode and so far it looks smooth. You shouldn't have any issues playing it on your rig.

Meh they removed a single player mode to chase the fad.

    Not interested.

Plus for me CoD hasn't been great since MW2/MW3 days.

I mean... This is true for every CoD post BO2 tbh?

CoD stopped being a trend setter with MW1, they copy pasted that model for awhile and then just chased whatever seemed to be "in" at the time. Sci Fi? Cool futuristic mech shooter. Oh you're tired of that? Let's go back to WW2... Oh that got old fast what's this fortnite all the kiddies are playing? lets try that.

Miles better hands down. But that's not hard since PUBG to BR is the equivalent of Daikatana to FPS.
