This is not just US thing, you can see this development all over the world. I wouldn't call it left vs right either because it just doesn't make sense anymore. I see this as a fight between patriots and globalists.

    TLDW from the video below:

    • Video is made by a Bernie Sanders supporter [so the people who claim this is "alt-right" are frankly to be entirely discredited]
    • For the last decade, Republicans and Democrats have drifted alarmingly apart; the median partisan voter no longer agrees on core values
    • Authoritarian left and right have destroyed the social consensus and are no longer willing to discuss/associate with each other
    • This is a dangerous time in history - will we look back on this era and see the seeds of something more?
    • [I'll edit this TLDW later with suggestions]

i dunno, it's hot as hell in indiana right now.

and we aren't in a civil war...well, places like chicago kind of are but i think we classify that more as a gang war. we are in a state of everyone "wanting to eat their cake and have it too" on both sides of the aisle.

and someone should tell that Ford lady that she looks like a douche with glasses. and every fucking picture i've seen of her she has that dumb open mouth look.

    3/10 would not bang

I think the internet makes you think there is.

While anecdotal, I live in a top 10 US city and shit like this only happens on the internet. My circle of family, friends, co-workers are not nearly as contentious as you see people on the internet. Hell, most the time politics isn’t even a subject. Bunch of people simply don’t give a shit about the infighting amongst politicians.
People working 2 jobs in the US (at least one part-time) - 7.8 Million (Roughly 4.9% of the workforce)

People working 2 full-time jobs in the US - 360,000 (0.2% of the workforce)

Average time worked weekly by the US Workforce - 34.5 hours

Actually you are. You admitted to not even watching the video, and ultimately made statements about said video with out knowing the argument being made.

FYI the argument being made in this video is not about a traditional, "Civil War". This is not Ohio declaring war on Pennsylvania. The argument is about a cold civil war, similar to the cold war against Russia. Where there was no actual war, just two countries that could not agree on anything. The video is suggesting the divide in this country is so partisan that neither party can find common ground on anything.

Undoubtedly their is awar happening between democrats and republicans. For everyday people, not really. The only people that really seem effected by all the ongoings in Washington DC are those that follow politics or are likewise seriously engaged in them. Their is a widening ideological gap between both political parties and it does present a dangerous situation given how riled up people can get. We've already seen a shooter trying to mass assassinate GOP candidates at a baseball game, ricin being sent to multiple elected officials, the doxxing of senators. These kinds of violent actions will only grow worse. In regards to the article though, I disagree with Trump bringing division. It was division that brought Trump.

We're not even near 1960's levels of crazy, let alone 1860's. The internet leads people to think that the country is worse shape than it's in because we see how truly nutty some people in our society really are.
Populists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.

Are you trolling or honestly you never heard "Cold War" before?

No. An election whereby the hard right is decisively defeated in the House, thus setting up the Democrats for a win of both the Senate (look at the map) and the Presidency in 2020, when Americans espousing actual traditional American values take their country back.

The hard right has no ideas to it. It only has fear. Fear of one thing or another. This "Cold Civil War" nonsense is just more of the same, and the joke of it is you think it has currency. We all know you people are playing this up. Scaring people is easier than, you know, governing and having a platform.

What precisely is the hard right's platform by the way?

A Wall that can't get built?
A tax cut coupled with explosive spending that has exploded our deficit? Do you want Donald Trump to be President in 2021, the year service on the debt exceeds defense spending?
    A trade war nobody wants?
An American first policy that about five people in the administration actually advocate for and zero people legislate for?
Immigration policies the next democratic President will undo in a solid five seconds in power, and the next Republican President after him won't emulate?
Killing terro.... oh wait the War on Terror is over.

More to the point (actually more generally) the entire scheme by the far right is predicated on the notion that Democrats won't regain power in one of the elections coming up over the next decade (pick one, it'll happen) and utterly wipe out everything you feel has been gained.

Without a buy in from the other side, there is no permanent victory in politics.

What's coming, in other words is the elimination and replacement of anything you feel you've gained due to the fact its very existence is dependent on power staying in a subset of one party. You aren't the first people to think that way. And that isn't how it's ever works out.

You people call the opposition a mob? Well... heh... Prepare to be mugged.

But you know in the reality based community that actually is?

    A. Normal. Fucking. Election. This one. The next one. The one after. Take your pick. Your ideas aren't sticking and you know it.

    no civil war
not even minor civil unrest in any of the advanced countries will happen in the foreseeable future

things get ugly only when people are starving
and starvation is at the lowest point ever in all the west

to be honest things have never been better in all the 1st world countries
    poverty is getting lower
    quality of life is increasing
    health levels are rising
    hunger is getting lower
    criminality is lowering
    unemployment lowers
    education increases

we have it so good, we are at the point where there is no need to even get upset(!!), let alone get hostile
and the geek shall inherit the earth

No, I didn't. Stop putting words in my mouth. Go back to my first post here, read it again. Several times, maybe, reading and comprehending doesn't appear to be one of your strong suits. All I said is that people not necessarily do or think how they say they do. Stop trying to be offended at all costs.

And I really don't know why you try to explain the cold war to me. Are you confusing me with someone else?

There's nothing cold about civil wars. A civil war is a protracted military conflict, not just "rioting" or "civil unrest".

Until your fellow citizens starts shooting each others with the intent to either take control of the federal government by force or secede wholesale, you're not in one.

Thank you for demonstrating exactly what I meant. You're a far leftist, you're deliberately using highly provocative imagery and inflammatory language, you're calling the right stupid (saying a movement has no ideas is pretty much calling them stupid), comparing Trump supports to nazis (this is generally false, you're just so far left everybody looks like nazis to you), you're creating thousands of political and anstagonistic posts on a ****ing WoW gaming forum, and you demonstrate no understanding of how the US electoral system works. You're extremely annoying to read, and you're DEFINITELY a part of the divide that has sprung up in American politics. You've decidedly taken to the far left trenches, and you know it.

And no, our plan is not predicated on whether the left will take over again. At least we'll have a time of prosperity and right wing government, and that's fine. I don't know what kind of grand conspiracy you think we're pulling off where the left can't be allowed to win for decades?! I mean we'd rather they don't, but that's just not reality. I know you will - hopefully you'll get further towards the center in the meantime.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Skroe a far leftist HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA

    Thanks for that one.

Also, he has a good deal of knowledge of government and the electoral system of the US, even though I may not agree with all his assessments. Just saying.

    Skroe is a 'leftist' LOLOL

At this point I think you goobs just copy and paste the same shit over and over.

See the problem with using stupid ass talking points like 'you say everything is hitler' is the lack of staying power. The statement on its face is a fucking joke and everyone knows that...so it can only carry as a joke...no one with a functioning frontal lobe will actually take it seriously, so it can only carry as a shitty joke. Like all jokes, it doesn't last long...how many times can you hear he same joke before you are just tired of it and annoyed by the idiot repeating it?

Lol Skroe a 'leftist' hahahha you can't even define what a 'leftist' is without throwing around shit like 'soy-boy'.

Anyway...if any of you think the current situation is new, or wasn't a long time coming, go read Jihad vs. Mcworld.

Would be better titled as Civil Cold War, seeing as the article is saying we are in a Cold War but saying politics, not weapons are being developed in a dick measuring contest.

While there is merit to this being a ridiculous time in American political history, calling it a Cold War is a stretch. Traditionally both sides of the aisle have attacked each other in petty ways, bull shit allegations constantly fly in American politics. What's being amplified now is the exposure due to media coverage. Every American with access to Fox, CNN, CNBC, think they are a political pundit, activist, and martyr for their own bad politics. Media has taken full advantage of that and ramped up all political coverage to a massive degree. When Bill Clinton was going through impeachment, he didn't even receive this much coverage. But it seems everyday we are in some senate chamber while they ask about infrastructure and how it's the left/rights/God's/BernieSanders/Ginesh's fault.

So no, we aren't in a civil cold war, we are simply becoming privy to the amount of actual politicking goes on in this country.

If you're hetero and have women in your life at some point they're going to ask you what you think about #Metoo or the Kavenaugh hearings.

    I don't think that's a bad thing.

You're gonna (incorrectly to the point of hilarity) label someone as far left because you don't agree with him, and then claim that he is the cause of the divide?

    They're right to laugh.
