Guess t-bell changed theirs since like 8 years ago then, you can still buy large amount of McDonalds during monopoly though, point is, loot boxes aren't like going to the casino, or playing the lotto, if you can get them free
And technically you're not legally allowed to buy things online under the age of 18 in most countries, so that part is the fault of the parents

Far too much focus on lootboxes and not enough on the causes of the increase. If lootboxes were the real issue then most of us would be addicts since we grew up dealing with trading cards of some kind. Baseball, basketball, football, hockey, yu-gi-oh, pokemon, digimon, etc had already done the same thing that lootboxes are doing now.

I mean, you show me a gambling addicted kid with not only the patience to farm wow gold, but also a kid who even PLAYS wow anymore, and I'll give you a cookie. On top of that, this isn't really a Blizzard only thing, though other companies do it much worse, well beyond cosmetics.

This is more a matter of real world goods vs. virtual goods.
We can then also wonder if it is smart to buy video games or music online, without a physical copy you can resell.

This has nothing to do with gambling addiction, because this isn't gambling.
Because they're not legally allowed do get CC's and Debit card's without parental consent, we're not talking battle.net balance or gold, but actual cash. (And if they're under 13, they're not legally allowed to be anywhere online without parental consent. You can't even join Discord if you're under 13 and risk having every server you're part of taken down). Blizzard is about the only one that makes it easy with cards at the store you can spend greenbacks on.
