This is not quite the case. They heard testimony, and decided based off the testimony and evidence if he would still be fit to serve as a Supreme Court Justice. The decision was yes. This was not a criminal case, nor could a criminal case have easily been conducted due to the length of time since the alleged incident. Even in a criminal case, they don't prove that allegations are false, they determine if the alleged perpetrator is guilty beyond that of a reasonable doubt. So it's a little different than you state.
