Goodbye Paragon Mounts, Hello Paragon Toys

I got all the mounts pretty quickly in Legion, but that was mostly because I was running a ton of characters once flying was introduced and emissaries became pretty quick. Now that I'm happily playing one character again, this list just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Ill get the toys that I get, and not stress the ones that I don't I suppose.

I was unemployed for much of Legion and thus cleared the map almost every day. I only got the Nightborne rug a few weeks ago. I refer to the return of paragon anything as "the return of the greatest evil known to WoW." Considering my guildies claimed to have a website that listed me as in the top 20 WQ completers in the world they understood my pain.

Toys are OK. I got the mount for the achievement, so I will not be stressed if I don't get some of these.

Have to disagree. More alts = more chance. It doesn't make it "quicker" as the alts themselves needs to be EXALTED and the time & effort put into these setups of these characters were mind numbing. With flying, it usually takes 10-20mins per alt to finish the 4x WQ. I had about 5 alts, so it usually take 80mins to finish 4 reps per day, so I grind 6 hours per day, every day till you get the mount that you need, then it will significantly take less time for the next mount etc etc. The rep tokens missions helped out lots and I usually dump them on my human characters, coupled with WQ quest and Darkmoon festival 10% rep.

My last mount required 22 boxes, and the hypogriff and moose mount I got them when "I didn't bothered" (they just happen to drop), but I've heard horror stories of players trying >50 boxes but no mounts.

The reason why certain players say it is quicker is because they had RNG God smiling on them.

For whatever reason, many people care about mounts much more than toys or pets. I know I do, personally. So I'm very happy with this change.

So did I. Never bothered to ask but they brought it up pretty frequently asking me if I'd finally gotten the last two things I needed. I didn't until well into BFA.

Opened 47 stormheim cache. Still no mount. Actually no got suramar and val'shara mount from "basic" legion rewards. No warden costume either. Got all argus mounts.

You're are confusing emissaries cache and paragon cache.

The first one is piss easy to get. The actual relevant one you have to refarm your exalted bar again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again.
With any true farmer simply doing every single WQ of aimed zone, on multiple humans alts preferably.

Paragon system is random hot garbage finished by a nice pint of piss.

This seems a bit odd. When they said they weren’t gonna do more emissary mounts I figured the reason was so that people didn’t feel onligated to farm them but this seems to lead to the same result. sigh

Because that's exactly what they want. Instead of adding content, they're adding more "reasons" to do the already existing content.

In Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance there are going to be 11 Toys that you can obtain as a reward from Paragon caches:

I personally don't like farming reputations 24/7 for paragon toys. If the drop chance for these toys are as low as they were for the paragon mounts/toys in Legion, then I'll probably pass on these toys. I should be happy when I get a reward, and not for the moment when "I don't have to grind reputations anymore".

I would like to see an alternative method to get them, either a currency system or making the toys BoE would be fine.

Whether or not you are a collector, how do you feel about the Paragon Toys? Will you be grinding reputations? Why/Why not?

I coulda cared less for the mounts in Legion myself, except the Hippogriff. I already have a couple hundred I don't use. Just give me the azurite, and maybe a little gold or something.

Most of the collectors are after mounts mainly, so toys are something they may ignore more easily.

Arguably mounts do less. I mean, by "mounts" what people really mean is "mount skins." Outside of a tiny handful of mounts that add function (i.e. water strider, a 2-seater, auction house mounts, etc.), getting a new mount just means changing your mount's look. They do nothing. Toys, on the other hand, sometimes add an effect (there's even a few that have actually been useful), and pets of course are actually functional for pet battling.

I can understand people who think the collection tabs are overall meaningless. I have a harder time relating to people who think ONE collection tab is worthwhile, while the others add nothing. That just seems like a weirdly inconsistent approach.

Well I mean it is cooler to ride around on a dragon than it is a pony and and rare/unique mount is always desirable to many players for the 'cool' factor. Some toys can be really cool too when they have a connection to events (like the toy that plays Sylvanas lament of the highborne) but most are pointless things to play around with while waiting for a boss pull in a raid

As for pets, unless you enjoy pet battles they are completely useless.

I'm on the fence about it honestly. If they have the same drop rate as Legions Paragon mounts then... no. Those were far too rare, and doing that much work for toys doesn't appeal to me. However, if the drop rate is noticeably better I'll probably be game for it.

The chances on the ones in the Argussian/Army of Light chests were kinda ok. They were attainable in 5ish chests I think.
The ones from the first Legion zones definitely are a no-go.

(That said, I agree with the feeling that this should not be a thing at all. I grinded the rep to exalted. what else do you want from me, you random meaningless faction?

Took me 80 tries to get the Highmountain mount. These paragon boxes can fuck right off, especially now that we aren't getting 1.5k rep tokens, and that you can't even get legendaries from them.

Since they are random, no, I am absolutely not farming them. I did the Paragon caches a few times in Legion just kind of incidentally and got lucky on a couple mounts, but it feels soooooo hollow to not get anything good in a cache. Blizz are obsessed with RNG and it honestly ruined mount collection for me which I though was a fun thing to do until a couple expansions ago. Only the hardest to obtain mounts were RNG previously, now it's just every mount and it's not worth my time for some off-color of a normal mount.

I know someone who spent years getting nearly every toy in the game and now they will undoubtedly have to grind rep again for this. It’s just so unecessary why not make it all cageable pets?!

I am not gonna go out of my way to grind the rep, I will do the 3 emissary quests every 3rd day but beyond that I wont be doing daily WQ grinds.

You still got lucky. By the time Legion ended I was running 8 characters a day, and in the entire xpac I got ONE mount.
