You do need good "solo laners" though, its core to high-end play.

It's not the same term as last-hit MOBAs where your "laning champion" exists just to control one third of the map - in HotS, a solo laner exists because they can cover TWO lanes simultaneously in the early game while the other four people constantly roam and apply pressure. Heroes like Arthas, Blaze, Yrel, MG, Malth etc are classified as such because they (a) have good waveclear that allows them to quickly mop up minion waves and rotate to another nearby lane to get that wave's exp as well, (b) they can bully their solo opponent effectively, hoping to force them back (and thus miss exp), and (c) have enough self-sustain that they can keep in lane farming efficiently as long as possible, while also being difficult to gank.

You may not like it, but that's how the game works

There are chances to make comebacks in Hots. I always considered that specialists are the ones who can make comebacks possible.

There are chances to come back in DotA and LoL too. What makes HotS so different.

Not nearly as much as in HotS though. If your hypercarry in LoL gets fed early and isn't stupid, that's basically GG because that one person will snowball harder and harder and eventually be able to basically 1v5 their team. One fed person ends up being worth more than two opponents put together; if you have TWO people built early then there's basically no chance you could lose. The other team CANNOT fight you at all.

In HotS, you lose a fight or two, you lose an objective or two, it sucks but it's not the end of the world. If you're down a level you're still on a pretty decent footing to teamfight, unless they're at 10/13/16/20 specifically. If you're down two, still not a catastrophe - pull back, farm as safe as possible for a while, give up an objective and regroup when the disparity levels out.

To be honest, anything that discourages those fuckwits who duck teamfights to push 1/5th of a lane is probably a good thing.

    JK nothing discourages them.

Bit of a stretch to call the average HoTS player human though.

Well with specialists no longer being a thing...

Why I think specialists are the comeback heroes?

    1. They can generate lots of experience. That compensates if the enemy team have 10+ more kills than your team. They can control huge wave of minions and get lots of xp. They can get mercenaries and keep the enemy distracted. Assassins can do this too but they are more important in teamfights

    2. They can be sneaky and destroy enemy forts and defenses alone or with lots of minions. It easier for them to be sneaky. Like Abathur they can appear anywhere, or like Murky they can place the egg to appear strategically when he dies, etc.

The new system favors the kills a lot. Its good. If the gap between kills is bigger, the winning team in kills can get huge level advantage (I tested it and its happening)

However, if you destroy all the forts, the enemy didnt destroy any of your forts and you have almost the same number of kills...both team will have the same levels. In conclusion, if you are losing 30 - 12, its really hard to maintain the same levels.

Most specialists while fun designed offer a bad gameplay experience for your team overall(assuming you find winning fun). The better you get at the game, the fewer massive mistakes people do and the better the heroes they pick are. Heroes like Abathur need a specific map type and a specific comp to shine in the higher leagues, because the enemy team is effectively fighting 5vs4.5 whenever your ult isn't up(and 5vs4.5 permanently if u go monstrosity).

Specialists in QM are even worse. I had a random QM game today on Braxis where we had Murky+Gazlove vs their 1 Hammer). That game was lost on on loading screen. Some specialists work because they are actually not specialists(for example Nazeebo), but if you join a game on the idea of hitting structures only on your hero(and doing camps), you are going to be stuck in low leagues/vs AI a lot.

No I mean, Blizzard is removing the specialist category.

    I played some games and:
    - snowballing is still possibile, but isn't that big. U can be 2-3 levels ahead instead 4-5, so it gives more chances to comeback for losing team.
    - additional catapults can be dangerous, so u can't completely ignore lanes and specialists are still needed.

I thought exp change will be much worse, but isn't that bad.

But new MM is terrible. It's like big step back. In QM I'm waiting 10 min everytime, only to get unbalanced teams. Like in the (not) good, old times.

You can get 4 or 5 levels advantage...two times my team in QM was destroyed....22 vs 5 kills

But if you destroy all their base and only core stands, you have the same number of kills....you will have the same level

As someone who used to give feedback I can't be arsed any more. They listen to what they want to listen to and do what they want anyway.
