Cod has a new campaign, new weapons, new multiplayer levels every year. Zelda has been recycling the same weapons, villains, and dungeons since the 80's. Zelda recycles enough to make cod blush. The same weapons, villains, dungeons, and princess in every single Zelda for the most part. It's almost as cheesy as bowser vs Mario round 35

This question wasn't "what do you think of it now"

To be more flexible with this game.

That it's okay not to use berserker/viper gear, or any other full offensive stat-set, despite everyone recommending that you use those stat sets 24/7.

I guess that's kind of an obvious thing, but it really helped me enjoy the game and more classes far more. No discussion, Dire gear is lower damage than Viper. But being dead is even lower damage, and dying at the drop of a hat or being instantly punished if not outright killed for not having an evade ready or not knowing precisely when to dodge is really not a good experience for someone new to the game. I'd much rather be the 3k+ armor, 30k hp condi rev never dying than the constantly on-edge glass cannon, and then save that sort of stuff for fractals or raids.

Going by how the game was when I stopped about 18 months-2 years ago, as a casual player I would say I wish I knew:

    1) That there isn't an automatic group finder for the dungeons and practically nobody does them other than specific exceptions (not talking about the Fractal ones)
    2) That base classes would be mostly left in the dust of the new variants
    3) That they would change various systems in a way to try and force you to play their way (ie dailies)

The base game before they changed to the current dailies system was for my taste one of the best MMO experiences I have had. Log in with whatever character you want, do whatever content you want, anywhere you want, get rewarded depending on how much you did. The daily and monthly achievements with the laurels and all that was my end-game in a way and the current system completely killed the game for me, which is a shame.

And it even was fucking good on dungeon runs tho, when dungeon farming was viable, it was still fucking good

Warrior has been the most consistent class in the game.

Vanilla - 5 Warrior dungeons, Warrior one of the fastest open world classes, warrior S class in PvP and WvW.

HoT - Warrior has reserved a spot in raids and fractals. Warrior still core in WvW. Condi warriors all over PvP

PoF - Warriors still have their reserved spot. Warriors still core in WvW. Warriors still among top tier in PvP.

Yeah, if anything warrior is a very stable class, heck Greatsword still remains the base for BS since vanilla.

IDK if warrior remains top tier in pvp, wasnt mirage the killer of fun on pvp?

Spellbreaker was nasty in pvp. They toned it down a little bit but it's still a competitive pick.

Just started playing. I think it’s the most amazing game I’ve ever experienced. As a mount/mog collector I’m completely infatuated. This game addresses and resolves almost everything I don’t like about wow.

I haven't played GW2 since just before HoT, so take what I say with a grain of salt here. But....

Every since launch literally every class has been called trash tier. Until some prodigy plays the class like no one has ever seen before, then suddenly it gets elevated to OP-tier. This is a community issue, not a game issue, so I don't see it really changing across expansions.

The thing you need to understand about tier rankings is that they're nonsense. Your own personal skill with a class will almost always trump some arbitrary tier list made by a crackhead sitting in a basement somewhere basing the rankings off a statistic. Are some classes going to be better suited to a particular role? Sure. The current meta is always taken by the general population and followed like it's some kind of absolute victory condition.

My advice? The thing I wish I'd known before I started playing? Stay off the official GW2 forums and ignore the meta. Play what you want and get GOOD at it. And don't jump ship the moment you come across someone who beats you because they happen to be good at the "meta".

I don't think it's trash because of how it performs. I just found it Garbage in how it felt to play. I generally couldn't give a shit how something is ranked I only care if something is fun.

If something is both Meta and Fun that is just a Bonus. Warrior felt like Trash to play.

It's why I don't do FotM rerolls in WoW, since I find many top performing Specs to be utter garbage funwise.

I wasn't speaking of warrior specifically. Like I said, EVERY class gets called both top tier and trash at some point.

I'm with you: Play what you enjoy. From what I've seen, the more fun you're having, the more likely you are to stick with it, and eventually become a pro with it. That's going to be more powerful than playing someone's tier list.

IIRC that was added during PoF at some point, so it hasn't been in there too long.

Actually it came with Out of the Shadows release, so almost three years ago.

Well hot damn, I didn't know about it until I came back for PoF. You learn something new every day.

Thanks for this advice, think I'll show this thread to my friend, she wants to start it, but I'm not really good with explanation
