How can we bring sanity back to America?

Since 2014 politics has gone completely insane! We have mass incarceration, greed, opioid epidemic, political extremism, etc.

America seems like a dystopian hellscape.

What can be done to give us a happy ending to all of this madness?

Do we need active grassroots political movements to get the ruling class to start giving a damn?

What the hell is going on?

Our education system is AWFUL. I'd start here.

    I mean, it's not since 2014. That's for sure.

Mass incarceration: Stop privatizing the prison system and making it profitable to keep as many people locked up for as long as possible.

Greed: Be better at wealth distribution and making sure that the top 1% aren't the ones making the rules.

Opioid Epidemic: Treat it like a medical problem when it comes to those afflicted and not a criminal one.

Political extremeism: Reign in campaign financing and donations so that lobbyists lose the ability to own votes. Eliminate the entire concept of PACs and Super PACs. Make it so that the loudest voice isn't the one followed by incentivizing compromise so that moderates on each side become the norm.

Upgrading your educational and political system. They are closer to that of 3rd world countries than to Europe or modern asian countries.

    Clearly we need more guns!

And more guns topics on our favorite gaming forums. Quick, someone recommend a gun for me! I'm an anonymous poster with an indistinguishable mental health makeup and a cute avatar. Something with a purple cerakote though.

We cant talk about; health issues, drugs, sexism or racism. Ya know things that might be a root to depression or anxiety.

But we're sure allowed gun recommendation threads. Yeehaw!

Not draining the middle class into oblivion would be a good start. It's nuts to (on paper) earn too much to qualify for any form of government assistance but at the same time have to count every penny.

The #1 issue is loss of trust. People have lost trust in everything. Extremism will grow wildly in a society that no longer trusts anything. Of course, the solution is to make sure EVERYONE feels enfranchised. The other solution is a civil war.
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.

    You can't.

First past the post voting leads to TWO and only TWO parties (maths folks)
Non compulsory voting leads to the middle ground avoiding voting at all leading to extreme bubbles concentrating on the left and right.

The US will always have voluntary first past the post voting - therefore by definition the system will lead to two extreme bubbles.

Turns politics into a game of baseball, with most people staying at home uninterested and the rest dividing into arbitrary sides to support their team.

Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.

If you want a shotgun id reccomend the Remington 870. Great pumpaction with a 28inch barrel. Has a wood finish and is a beautiful looking gun. I've fired 200 shells out of it in an hour and while the barrel does get hot, it had no issues. Sometimes the pump can get stuck if you are using cheap shells but if you oil the gun, there shouldn't be a problem.

    Improve the American education system.
    Introduce multi-party system.
Introduce national Citizen ID so people can only vote once across the country.

Constitutional carry in all 50 states. It would be violent for a couple years but once the prolonged purge is over with things will be pretty nice.

    fixed that for you.

if you're just now waking up to what politics and cultural decay in the US has become, then i both envy your blissful ignorance and can't believe your... let's call it "innocence."

there's really nothing to be done though because this is built into the structure of the country, corruption and cronyism and extremism are fundamental cores of the foundations of the US as a nation, and honestly it's a miracle it lasted as long as it did before getting to this point of pure theater.
it's been fucked for pretty much ever but a lot of cultural domineering kind of hid it, but since the 60s (and with a huge boost in the 80s and early 00s) the parts of this country that are inherently flawed and doomed to failure if "the overall betterment and furthering of the human race as a species and progress towards social and technological improvement" is your goal for a nation has really been highlighted.

the 'solution' is very simple but it requires that you set a goal and then do what is required to achieve that goal, instead of the current system where some goals are vaguely defined and then sort of waved at while turning slowly in a circle.

either liberal and democratic political structures need to stop being fuckin' pussies all the time and just go "you know what? fuck you, the south. you're out of the process" and simply eliminate conservative elements from the structures of government, which wouldn't be an instant fix to the long-term problem but would be the equivalent of at least getting the bullet out and letting the body start to repair itself.
    or,
regressive and domineering cultural forces need to embrace the fact they are inherently a fascist patriarchal theocracy and turn the country into the gun-running jesus freak dystopia they so desperately crave the idea of, before losing their god damn minds over being confronted with the reality that being a portly balding 37 year old with a glock doesn't make you rambo, and in the world they keep trying to tear us down to they would be food.

I agree with this. If you look at what's happening in the world all the time, there's always a tragedy to find. If you just walk outside, the birds are chirping and the sun is out. And just worry about people on your street/block. If everyone did that everywhere, well, we'd be a lot better off.

The president telling the truth about literally anything would be step 1.

Your two party political system being in an almost continious state of gridlock aint doing you any favors.
    Also stop cutting education budgets.

sort those two things out, and yer golden.

Our multi party system is far from perfect, but it aint the sort of shitstorm Reps / Dems are.

All of these, also forgive all student debt and provide free college and single payer healthcare to all citizens. reducing debt and making life less stressful i think would go a long way toward the general public mental health. Also minimum wage of at least 20/hr, a few weeks vacation a year, 1 year M/Paternity.
