Ukraine is unfortunate enough to be a Russian neighbor without an army to deter them. I do not think Russia would invade further into Ukraine, but if they do, the International community should stand by their side.

But the good news is that the USA is fine with it, and is rewarding Russia's abhorrent behaviour with relaxation and cancellation of sanctions against Russia and various high powered persons.

Trump is one of the best employees Russia has ever hired.

Arent ukranians just russian light version anyways? Let them become part of russia. They will probably be safer with putin as a leader than not... (for obvious reasons)

This was inevitable the day Ukraine turned over their weapons in exchange for a never-to-be-taken-seriously promise.

Let other NATO neighbors defend them.

Russia is one of the major suppliers/traders of gas and other valuable resources.

No one in EU is willing to risk losing access to those resources so they just turn a blind eye to whatever russia is doing.

Would you send your child or go yourself to defend the border of ukraine from a swarm of russians?

Who is buying Russian products besides their produce and their natural resources?!

The answer is no one because Russian products are crap.

No, just continue to strangle Russia with economic sanctions until they collapse. Again. Or until they're willing to play nice at the big kids table.

You know that comment was about Nazi Germany trying to invade Russia and is not connected to Modern Day Germany, correct?

I'm sorry I thought we were talking about World War II Germany where they made tanks so large they sunk into the ground and couldn't cross bridges, or tanks that set themselves on fire with fully sealed engine compartments and broke their transmissions if you rotated the tank on a mild incline.

They were still using horse drawn carts as their main mode of logistical transportation.

If not Russia, then the US would annex the country. Russia just got there first.

It isn't like claiming a country may not be able to govern itself hasn't been used as an excuse for an invasion before...

Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians all descend from Kievan Rus, which was an East Slavic Federation founded and ruled by the descendents of Rus Vikings (probably from Sweden). So they definitely share a common, recent lineage and obvious similarities.

With that said though, they are all still unique ethnic and national identities and are entitled to the right of self-determination.

Why would they, though? There's noone interested in risking anything with Russia over the Ukraine. It was in a poor state when the Maidan happened, and its even worse now, and Russia has little to do with that. Ukraine was intereesting as long as they held the ground around one of Russias biggest naval bases, but now, it's just a liability. Noone will risk anything for them. Look at what happened recently, in the Kerchow (spelling...?) strait. How the international community cried out in anger? How Kiew was shaking its fists, speaking of provocation, casus beli, and what happened? Nothing. Because noone outside of the Ukraine gives a shit. And the people in control there give no shits, either. They want to get rich, and then they'll leave the country in an even worse state.

No. Russia simply cannot be invaded, just like the US and China. The winter will fuck you over, and the country is to big to be held. If Germany had declared war on noone else the still would have failed miserably.

Russia must be having a inferiority complex with the Muricas fucking up the world so royally in these past decades. No wonder they feel the need to act up to compensate. These hostile superpowers are going to drive us extinct sooner or later.

Their claim to Ukraine is not completely illegitimate tbh but it's incomprehensible that they would pursue it and create conflict when the world already is just about ready to implode on itself.

Actually Russia's tanks are (in general) inferior.

The USSR had two main battle tanks, the Ukrainian produced T-64 (from which the T-80 and T-84 were derived) which was arguably one of if not the best tanks on the planet in its day, and the Russian produced T-72 which was a cheaper less capable but more mass producible complimentary design (which due to being lower tech was also sold to other countries).

Essentially, Ukraine has all the good Soviet tanks some of which have been further modernized and Russia only has the cheap ones they sold the middle east plus the T-90 and Armata.

At least they announced it through the proper channels. If they did it the USA way they would install a dictator that is loyal to US interests while robbing the natives.
